Every time I share our laundry room, or pass by it on Instagram stories, we get a plethora of questions about it. Our laundry room is one of the few rooms in our home that we haven't touched, with the exception of hanging a lantern in here after we moved the chandelier the was in here to Polly's room.
It's an incredible space that came with two sets of washers and dryers, cabinetry galore and sturdy wall-mounted clothing racks. There was a pretty ornate antique barn door that lead into the space that meant a lot to the previous owners, so we recently returned it to them and I have been letting my mind explore a simple update to our laundry room.
This update will include:
Limewashing walls is something I have wanted to try for a while now and I feel like the laundry room is the perfect place to do it because of what's neighboring this space: Faye's room is wallpapered, Polly's room is planked, so the laundry room (which is in between the two) would really benefit from a moment of rest--but some interest as well.
I love the soft tonal texture that lime washing can bring to walls. Here are a few favorite examples that have inspired me:
As you can see, you can go super light, mid-tone or dark. I ordered a sample deck from Portola Paints and will keep you posted about what I'm leaning towards. Right now I'm leaning light to mid-tone neutral, but everything could change once I get the samples.
I feel like I've been working on huge projects forever and I needed a quick easy one that's high impact and I think the laundry room is just that! Who's excited!?
Lime wash is so stunning, I can't wait to see what you do with this space!!
Lime washing good, 90's sponge and rag rolled finishes bad it all in the technique LOL
Hi guys! I can't wait to see what you do!! I loooove a beautiful, functional laundry room - one of those spaces that makes you smile just looking at it & helps you feel peaceful & kinda nurtured while doing chores, you know?? :)
How does lime washing differ from the sponge painting everyone was doing in the early 90s?
Limewashing is the real thing!
I love the lime wash idea! I can’t wait to see what you come up with. I stayed at that air bnb in Philadelphia in the second inspiration picture and every detail was perfection!
So excited to see this transformation, especially the lime wash. It’s something I’m wanting to incorporate into our new house build in the kitchen and can’t wait to watch the process.
I'm with you! New countertops! ;) Do you have a new source for butcher block countertops? Looks like Craft Art is out of business. Thank you!
The limewashing in the examples looks amazing! I can’t wait to see how you guys do it... and then maybe try it myself :)
Your plans sound amazing! Where did you find the Dyson stand?

Can’t wait to follow along. I love the look of the dark lime wash. I painted one wall in our laundry iron ore and I’m planning to do a gallery wall of all the cool art I find at antique stores but don’t really go with the rest of my house. I would love to all cabinets to our laundry but it seems like a big task to do on my own.
????????♀️????????♀️????????♀️ Me Me Me, I’m excited❣️❣️Can’t wait ????
I can't wait to see what paint color you choose for the cabinets and how it all comes together... I have no doubt it'll be amazing!
