It wasn't until we had company coming for Christmas that I realized what an eye-sore the space in-between the sink and the ice machine is. It's meant for two refrigerator drawers, which were supposed to arriving at the end of June, but we were just updated won't be here until the end of August. (All I could do was throw my hands up in the air!) I thought about it every time I walked by, but especially when we were having company over because the contractors like to stash all the kitchen supplies there. Convenient for them, generally no big deal, but also not especially cute. I decided instead of looking at it for the next few months, they can still store their stuff, and I'll just hang a little cafe curtain!

I've been enamored with skirted cabinets or cabinet curtains for years. Hanging curtains to cover clutter has been a charming solution for hundreds of years. It's a very traditional look, and even though it's temporary, I could totally see myself putting this permanently in an area of our house. Maybe the laundry room?
At first I was going to buy some fabric and have someone actually sew a custom curtain. Then I had the realization that since this was temporary, I could probably find a really cute cafe curtain that has the dimensions I'm looking for and it's true! Amazon had some really great options and exactly the size I needed. I bought this one (that came with two panels) and it created the perfect amount of bunching and kissed the floor from the tension rod I used to hang it between the cabinets!
I'm so into with this casual final look, and it was such a simple, cost-effective solution! I chose a curtain that blended well with our cabinetry but had some classic stripes to make it a little more interesting. I wanted to share a bunch of other cute cafe curtains I looked at in hopes of inspiring you to do something similar in your homes! Where else would you do this? (count me in for the laundry room!)

So, your fridge drawers are delayed - but what about your big fridge and freezer? The waiting!!! I know it'll be worth it in the end, but how exhausting for you to be in limbo for so long.
They are ALLLLLLL on the same shipment unfortunately.
I just ordered curtains to do the same thing in our pantry, but I had a really hard time figuring out how wide the fabric should be to get a full look. Mine will be hung by a tension rod like yours. I know the rule of thumb for window curtains is about 2x the widow width, but in that case the curtains are hung outside the window. Did you go with 2x the width for this?
I'd do at least 1 and a half the width!
Are the cabinet latches easy to use? I’m considering putting a set on a cabinet door that I use frequently and I’m wondering if it’s a pain and perhaps I should leave it to the very top cabinet that I rarely use.
To be honest, I'd save it for a cabinet that you use less. I love the look, but it isn't as easy as pulling a knob.
Did the speed oven arrive at least? Did you do something clever with your other appliance openings too?

25+ years ago while I was living in a one bedroom apartment, I put one around my pedestal sink in the bathroom. Worked like a charm. Looked cute and gave me a place to store cleaning supplies.
This gives me 101 Dalmatians vibes. So cozy, cute!!
