...I finished my curtains! It's one of those things that got really repetitive and I couldn't wait for them to be done. And now that they are--I am so happy with the result. Soooo worth it. Remember what it looked like before? Here's a reminder:
Bleh! The bone-colored curtains started radiating a weird green once we painted the walls---and it totally got on my nerves. You can read how I scored conned some amazing fabric on the cheap here. And then all I needed was time. I got one panel done right away. Unfortunately, the other seven (yes, there are eight panels total) sat on my desk until last night when I rallied! From there, it was a marathon....errrr I guess if a marathon is 22 yards. Welp, it sure FELT like a marathon. Did I mention I am glad they're done?
Not that it was hard, because it wasn't. Even for a beginner like me. I just hemmed, hemmed, hemmed and then I made 8 large button holes at the top of each panel and then hemmed the fabric down 5 inches so the holes were hidden in back when I slid it onto the rod. Blah. Blah. Blah. Let's get to the goods:
The hidden button holes created amazing waves in the curtains and pretty, formal ruffles up top. The color is right on and because the back is a dark charcoal--they are great for blocking out any light that the blinds fail to. Although, we're really not those kind of people that like it super dark in our house, it is still nice to have that option.
I'm in love.

They are PERFECT!!!!!! I LOVE how the scrunch up at the top. The fabric looks So expensive too :-) I have some fabric that I can't wait to sew with. I have some ideas for some summer dresses for Brin. If you can imagine, one is a shirt of Ryan's. Well, I am PRETTY positive it is a women's shirt. AND he knows it and won't admit it. I knew because the shirt buttons up like a womens shirt even though he found it in the mens gap sale rack. After I told him, he was CRUSHED and embarrassed. If you're wondering if I am going to blog about it once my dress is made for Brinley, YOU BET!!!!!
