Can I be honest? I think one of the most boring debates is whether you take off your shoes in the house or leave them on. I grew up in a very strict 'No Shoes in the House' home. It was a running joke that my dad would say "Take your shoes off" before he even said "Hi!" to our guests. But it actually wasn't a joke at all. The basket of booties by the front door and the constant reminders from my dad were there to protect those beautiful hardwood floors.
Funny enough, I have hardwood floors in my home, and I'm the opposite. We have a dog. Our kids are older and not in the crawling phase. I have to wear shoes or my feet hurt, so I wear them basically from the minute I get out of bed to the end of the day. I'll rotate between my Uggs, Hoka Slides and Birkenstocks to walk around the house; Chris usually has on flip-flops. (Thank goodness we're on the same page with the great shoe debate.) But I also believe that there's no better recipe for getting a bunch of house work done than strapping on a pair of tennis shoes.
While I sometimes get flack for wearing shoes in my house, I absolutely abide by the "house rules" motto: It's your house, and whatever you choose goes!
