A New Year, a New House Tour of Our Modern Colonial

January 6, 2023

We just set out to make our project list for the 2023 year, but before we tackle anything, we're pausing and admiring all that we accomplished in 2022. We're renovating this home because we're passionate about loving where you live. We love taking something and making it more beautiful and functional for our family and sharing it with all of you is just a bonus. Your support and camaraderie are felt, and we hope that what we do here at CLJ continues to inspire, teach, or entertain you wherever you may be. Recently, we hit 1 million followers on Instagram, which is an incredible milestone and something we're celebrating alongside you! We couldn't have done it without you, so cheers to that and cheers to a brand new year.

Here's a walkthrough of what our home looks like now, and I can't wait to see what it looks like a year from now!

  1. I used to be subscribed to your blog, but for some reason, I'm not anymore. I don't see any way to subscribe?

  2. Love everything you've done!! I'm looking for a small island like the one you have in the guest house kitchen! Can you share where it's from and if it will stand up to daily use? Thanksgiving!!

  3. Hi, I have been lurking on your site for awhile. Love everything you do! Never once have submitted a note out to the blogosphere - until now. Saw your video today and was (naturally) stunned. It really helped me to visualize what you are working with. Question? What about the space at the very end of the upstairs (past Greta’s room) as a private principal bedroom retreat? It seems to lend itself to that idea. Just a thought. Ann

  4. Beautiful. I see a lot of callbacks to the best elements of your previous homes, too, which is so nice. Love your house tours! Selfishly glad to see many spaces you haven't touched yet because that means more content. :)

  5. Love your beautiful home, watching the video made the layout and scale of the rooms much easier to understand and appreciate. I looked at your shop our house feature but couldn't find a source for the brown leather cantilevered chair at the desk in your upstairs future bunk room if memory serves? I'd love to track it down, thank you!

  6. So I haven’t loved all of the renovation choices, but the home does flow together much better than I imagined from the pictures. It has an overall gracious and lovely feel to it.

  7. What a gorgeous home you have. I always get a lot of inspo from you! I know you are likely worried about the length of the video, but when the camera never stops moving, it makes me really motion sick. Pauses allow us to take in the detail....just a thought for next time.

  8. I appreciate so much all the effort that must have gone into making the house “tour ready”! Couldn’t have been easy! Thank you!! It’s Beautiful!

  9. Loved the tour! What about the "hidden door" room off the upstairs blue room? Is it just storage (aka junk room?).

  10. Beautiful home. I only wish you'd shit this vertically than horizontally. So much we didn't get to see or truly appreciate.

  11. Your home is beautiful! I love your sense of style and find a lot of inspiration from your use of color, successful execution of traditional elements that feel young and fresh, and creation of a home that is exquisite while still being cozy. Thank you for putting this content out there. As someone who shares your love of home, you've given me many great ideas to make my own home even more what I want it to be. Thank you!

  12. I always look forward to your home tours! It's inspiring to see the places you have beautifully created and the ones that are yet to be touched. Thanks for sharing!

  13. What a treat! Thanks so much for inviting the world into your entire home (ha!). It’s such an intimate thing to do, and I loved seeing your ideas. I live in a historic Victorian farmhouse and it’s not entirely white and beige; so though I appreciate (and love) other styles, your home is the first that has truly resonated with my personal style. Thanks for sharing!

  14. Wow, wow, wow!! I so enjoyed that, even though I've been here for all of the renovations, it was lovely to see the flow. Looking forward to what the new year brings! For you and me!

  15. Thank you so much for sharing! I love seeing how you have worked with every space - those that you've stunningly renovated and those that you haven't (yet somehow you manage to make the unrenovated rooms work beautifully with the rest of the house!)

I'm curious, what did Andi use to record this? It's a beautiful video!

My Storage Hack for Organizing Christmas Decorations

Every year when I pack up the decorations after Christmas, I collect all of the garlands together in one box, I get all the candlesticks together in another box, and all my nativity sets go into their own box. We label the boxes "garlands," "candles," "nativity sets,"...which seems great until you remember that you have […]

Cranberry-Glazed Ham

What do you make for Christmas dinner? Sometimes we'll do a prime rib or a roast turkey, but this year, I'm going all out with a Christmas ham that just looks festive. For this recipe, I made a cranberry-orange glaze with some warm winter spices that takes this ham to the next level. Oh and […]

Raise your hand if you panic when your phone's low battery notification turns on? (Just me??) There's nothing worse when I'm out on a fun holiday outing taking video memories of my family, and I see that red light. Or I'm traveling and stuck in the airport on a layover...it gives me anxiety! I've tried […]
