Exciting news! Once again, we're teaming up with Lowe's to help one homeowner--anywhere in the country--transform a space in their home this spring. Last year, entries poured in from all 50 states and DC, too, and we ended up on Long Island, New York! It was a great experience, with an awesome before and after and now we're looking for our next big before and after! (There's a link to the entry form at the bottom of the post. Please note: we will only be accepting entries through tomorrow, so don't delay!)
This time, Lowe's would like us to help a homeowner transform and elevate a kitchen or bathroom in their home!! Keep in mind, we'll be doing the makeover over a weekend, so while we won't be able to completely gut your space, there's a lot of cosmetic refreshes we can tackle in that time.
Especially considering our team we're bringing with us. This year, Lowe's asked us to assemble our own dream team of people to help us carry out our vision for the homeowner, and we couldn't be more excited that Kim and Scott Vargo (yellowbrickhome.com) and Daniel Kanter (manhattan-nest.com), as well as Chris's super handy brother, Brandon (it runs in the family), have agreed to fly in and help us whip your kitchen or bathroom into shape!
We hand-picked these bloggers not only because they are fun (!), but Kim, Scott, and Daniel also all have an excellent eye for design, are so detail-oriented in their work, and are the best of the best in the DIY world.
TO BE ELIGIBLE, YOU MUST:
• Live in the United States
• Be looking to fix up a kitchen or bathroom within your residence.
• Must be the owner of your home.
• Be outgoing, energetic, and fun with unique stories to tell.
• Be comfortable being on camera and/or interviewed by media.
• Be in need of expert design help from Chris Loves Julia.
• Be able to make quick decisions in order to keep tight timelines.
• Be available for a 2-3 day period to complete the makeover between March 1- April 31.
• Allow photos of your home to be shared online.
• Must be 21 years of age or older to apply.

We just bought a new old house that we're renovating. It has a large 1969 deck, complete with flared railing, that needs some serious help. :) Maybe you guys could do an exterior makeover at some point and I'll apply for that! Good luck on this one--can't wait to see the finished space!

Hello!! You mentioned you would not be able to gut a kitchen because of time constraints. My dear sweet hubby decided to completely gut our kitchen before we had a plan in place, and it has sat empty for a YEAR now because of other things that have taken priority (like keeping up with our 5 young children).. so my question is, would an already gutted kitchen be considered?

This is so exciting! I normally don't enter contests, but to actually have our kitchen feel like home would be amazing. I just submitted our application! We bought our house almost 2 years ago and have been DIY renovating our home since. Let me tell you, it's been a journey! We literally just put in our new stove after purchasing it Black Friday of 2015. Our kitchen is "complete" with unfinished concrete floors after removing old tile and leveling it, along with old pink wood cabinets. I'm sure you'll see the photos of everything else. Ha, this sounds like me today choosing between our master bath and the kids' bathroom. I chose to apply for theirs because we want them to shower and get ready in their own bathroom instead of ours. Confirmed my decision tonight when my teenager told me that they'd never, ever get ready in their own bathroom if ours was renovated instead of theirs!

Of all the contests I've entered, I hope my luck has been saved for this one! What a fun opportunity. The podcast this week really hit home (no pun intended) for me. We live in a small area, but that has never dampened my spirit when it comes to fixing up our home.

Hi Julia! How much input (do you think) would we as the homeowner have in the process? For example, you guys are awesome designers and should of course be trusted to your own design devices for that reason, but if I say I do NOT want floating shelves or something like that, would that kind of input be welcomed or are we pretty hands off the whole time? I would say anyone that has TOO long of a list of non-negotiables would probably not be the right candidate for this but is 1 or 2 ok? Thanks!
