A few weeks ago, when
we hung a few sets of Ikea curtains in Greta's room, I knew we'd be revisiting them in an effort to make them more special/quirky/fun. I
casually looked for pom-pom trim (because, really it is the most fun trim there is) to add to the edges for a couple weeks and then I started getting serious. Like,
where is all the pom pom trim!? Granted, JoAnns and Hobby Lobby had some--but they had a lot of....neon colors. I had my heart set on a sunny yellow--not bright, neon yellow--to tie in with the gold polka-dotted sheets. Spoiler alert--found some!
Etsy pulls through again. I found and ordered 10 yards of golden yellow 1/2 ball pom pom trim (for less than $20!) from this shop and it arrived in two or three days. I think ideally, I would have loved HUGE pom poms, but these half-inchers looks so sweet and are the perfect color--I can't even complain. Check out how well they complement the sheets:
Gah! Attaching them to the curtains was really easy. I followed
Kim's method and used hot glue. It worked great, was real fast and the trim isn't going anywhere. I just put a small line of glue on the back edge of the curtains and pressed the trim on, working in small sections. When finished, the front looks like this:
And the back looks like this:
The results are really charming and just what these run of the mill Ikea curtains needed.
Mark this as one of those fast-less-than-an-hour-less-than-$20-projects. (Love those.) Hold me back before I add pom pom trim to all of our curtains.
UPDATE! You can now shop everything in our house right here!
P.S. Ribbon trimmed curtains in our family room!

I love this. It's the perfect amount of whimsy that it needed. But you obviously don't have cats ;]
Ummm will you be mad if I steal this pom pom thing? You have the best ideas and some hot pink on my plain white curtains may be just the thing I need for the little girl room makeover we're working on.
I LOVE this room!
GOOD call on the pom pom trim. really takes the room to a new level.
As always, this is a win!! I absolutely love the little poms and the color is perfect. Kind of gold/yellow. It's beautiful and playful. Does Greta love her new room????
Whoa baby. I am in love! Perfect addition! I love all the subtle touches in this room.
What a simple project but I love the look. They color and size are perfect!!
They really are the perfect size! Be still my heart!
Super cute! I love the color you chose and how well it ties into Greta's sheets!
Love love love! They are so cute! Perfect for a little one's room! :)
i loove this idea. and i want to do it in my room. and really, they look so good with the sheets!
Oh heck yeah! I love me some poms and I love how they look floor to ceiling! Greta's room is so cheery and just what I needed to see this morning! :)
Good to hear, Lexy!
I'm in love! I made some curtains for my daughter's big girl room recently out of a soft lavendar with a white pin stripe and they just need...something. I think some dark royal purple pom poms will be perfect. I love how it makes the sophisticated stripe a little bit whimsical and perfect for a little girl. Thanks for the inspiration!
Oooo yeah! Sounds like it would be pretty!
Cute! Love the look with the sheets. Am I the only freak that washes my sheers every now and then? They get sooo dusty in my house, so I would have quickly sewn these on to withstand a little cleaning. But they look fab! And you gotta love Etsy.
Wash in cold and air-dry is totally safe for hot glued fabrics--I did a lot of hot glueing shirts for spirit week in high school (Hahaha).
Yes!!! Lol
Cute! I love this idea. Turned out great! Loving the step by step of Greta's big girl room!
The pom poms are so cute! I love how the room is coming together, great job!
Thanks Caslani!
I love it!! I really like how they pair with the sheets. Have you thought about adding trim to the bottom of the curtains, too?
Actually...no. Hahahaha. Anthropologie doesn't have them at the bottom of theirs--and they were part of my inspiration--so I honestly never even thought about it. Hahaha.
I am totally digging this room!! Can I move in there?!?
Absolutely. ;)
