Before we left to
house hunt, we were working on finishing a few projects. Namely, the master bathroom and the kitchen backsplash. The master bath revamp was done on a budget. Like $200, budget. Here's how it looked when we moved in...and, well, for the last two years #yikes:
And here's how it looks now:
And because some readers said they prefer before and afters side by side. Same pics:
The changes involved
painting the walls and vanity and adding hardware,
laying vinyl tiles, and adding a shiny new shower rod and towel hooks and frosting the window in the shower. The shower curtain and hamper are from West Elm and I ordered them before we knew we were moving, which is a little ironic because our new house has all closet showers and no need for a shower curtain...yet.
Above the toilet, we hung a couple shelves from Ikea (we hung the same ones in the hall bath) and I put a few photos and my large ceramic penguin I scored a few years back.
On the opposite side of the room, we replaced the old light with one from Lowe's, added a new towel holder and a painting I did a few years ago.
For around $200, we're kicking ourselves for not doing these few tweaks years ago so that we could enjoy them ourselves, but we're excited about our new adventure and challenges in our new house. Although, spoiler alert: there's no stenciled trim.
I Have been looking for rh shower curtain everywhere! If you are ever looking to unload it ... interested!! :)
[…] frosted glass window so I’m leaning towards a darker colour. I actually am really loving this bathroom and am using it as inspiration/I’m probably just going to copy […]
Beautiful
I can't believe what a difference that $200 made. Well spent! My favorite part are the shelves I think. They add a little bit of unexpected personality.
I love that shower curtain!!
I wouldn't want that penguin falling over and hitting me on the head while doing the business! LOL~
It looks amazing! You guys did a great job! Isn't it crazy what a little paint can do? ;)
Looks great!! Did you paint the tub white?? It looks like the marble is gone from these photos or it could. be. me.
Nope. The tub and surround stayed the same, but we purposely painted the walls darker to make the tub look whiter, and it worked!
Holy cow! What a difference! I'm totally head-over-heels impressed at the finished product and the budget.
Love those shelves, too.
Thanks, Kim!
Such a difference for $200!! Looks great! LOVE the shower curtain too!
Inspiring!
That giant penguin is cracking me up. Hope you find a place of prominence for him (her?) in your new digs.
Me too! I love that thing.
You can't beat that for $200!
No sir.
You guys did an amazing job, especially considering your budget!!! I want that bathroom! Can't wait to see the kitchen backsplash!
Thanks, Jenn! Waiting for grout to dry...hopefully pics tomorrow!
