I love this photo of Faye and Charly so much. They truly adore each other. And, yes, Charly is a very good sport. But, besides Greta and Faye, she is more of an adult dog. Screaming, running kids freaks her out which usually scares the kids. She's never bitten anyone, ever. But when a 160 pound dog starts running after you because you are screaming and running after one of her girls (meaning, Greta and Faye) she doesn't know what else to do. So when friends are over, we have to enforce the "no running in the house" rule a little more strictly. And we try to take time to let every friend pet Charly and scratch her backside--that's the key to her heart. And that haircut of hers? That's the key to mine. (No more vacuuming every day!)
Other fun things this week!
This is kind of older new news, but I'm so excited for Emily Henderson's new house. And Lauren Leiss's! Anytime a blogger, friend or family member buys a new home--I feel like I bought a new home. While I look at home listings for fun, we are feeling very content and happy living here. It's finally starting to take shape and it feels fun to go work on a reno job in a mess downstairs, and come upstairs to something beautiful and finished. A feeling that's still very new.
Does your state have a signature scent? I love the idea of these homesick candles. My home state of Pennsylvania's smells like chocolate and molasses--which is a lot more welcoming than the kielbasa and pierogies I remember it smelling like.
Congrats girl! Fiancé of former Miss California scoops his 25th medal (If we talked about Michael Phelps or any male olympian the way we talk about female athletes)
We're going to choose the winner for our favorite paint sprayer (the Wagner Flexio 570--it's $30 off on Amazon!) at 5pm MST today. Click on this post from earlier this week to enter!
Pros And Cons Of The ‘Tiny House’ Movement (It's likely too cramped for ghosts to bother haunting--hahaha!)
Serena & Lily is having their annual tent sale, which means hundreds of items are 40-70% off. Since Serena & Lily is a generally a pricier brand for our budget, I was skeptical at how low the prices were going to be. But! I'm happy to report, they have a lot of throws and pillows in the $30 range. Area rugs (as big as 8x10!) for just a couple hundred dollars and furniture at Target prices. (Not to mention, my favorite skinny belt is just $19.) It's definitely worth checking out. I rounded up my picks below.
Hope you have an awesome weekend. I'm still caulking the office. It's the wooooorrssssttttt.
We decided on wood tiling our whole house (all 2100 sq ft) and I cant seem to find a vacuum thats effectively picking everything up! Do you have any suggestions?
Loooooove that Avery bed from Serena & Lily... That $200 handling fee though ? Totally understand the necessity but always such a bummer!!
Sweet Charly and Faye. They're the cutest couple. I'm feeling blah about my couch pillows. So thanks for the sale alert. I'm still droooooling over your basement Studio McGee pillows. Like having love dreams about the velvet green with the gold zipper. Oh and the plaid one...it's like they were made just for that room. Too good.
Julia -- Im from PA too (Philly side tho!) -- I was totally confused by the choice of molasses and chocolate! We have a huge German and Dutch population, so Keilbasa and pierogies are definitely what I remember as well! I think that is such an odd choice for our state -- can we request a re-do?!? :-)
I mean, I love piergies as much as anyone, But I definitely don't want my home smelling like potatoes and onions everyday! I think Fall is the best time in PA - so smells like that would be lovely -- the crisp air, the fall leaves, rain smells -- Do you agree/what do you think would represent PA better?
The only thing I can think of is they clung to Hershey, Pa? If I remember correctly, Pennsylvania means "Penn's woods" (for William Penn), so maybe something a little more wood/pine scented? When I brought Chris there for the first time, he was amazed at all the trees.
OMG! Hershey! Im totally embarrassed that that never even crossed my mind -- we went there every summer growing up! SHEESH!
YES = TREES! I am in Colorado know, and that is something that I really miss - all the trees!
Thanks for chatting with me -- Have a great weekend!
Hope you don't end up with claw hand grom caulking. I ran through all of your podcasts caulking our 2nd floor rental. Still have a bit more to go but the podcasts helped!
How embarrassing. I blame my typo on claw hand! "grom"="from"
Oh I loved this photo when you posted it on Instagram – so much so that I went down a rabbit hole of scrolling through photos of babies and puppies, ha! I've never been to Pennsylvania, so I may be totally off-base here, but is there a large Slavic population there? Pierogi and kielbasa sound like my jam... ;)
Huge Slavic community.
