It was an exciting first week back at our home! Painting started around the house. Flooring got laid in our office and we moved back into the space. Because, yes, we had to move EVERYTHING out of the office for two days while they did the floors. Let's just say the entry was crammed and we were working in the breakfast nook. But it was so worth it because the floors look incredible in here.

I have a full post coming about the floors, and they look quite a bit lighter here than they do in real life (must have been a bright time of day), but we went with Stuga Studio's Ingrid floors and they have so much character and warmth to them. They are also finished with a matte sealant which makes them look unfinished and they're just so so cool.
I'll share more pics of the office soon, but this update is as much about the large faux fig stems I ordered from Target than anything else. When the new Magnolia collection rolled out a few weeks ago, I noticed that they were selling fig stems in two sizes (25" which my store was carrying and 46" online). I already had these fig berry stems from McGee and co, but a lot of the inspiration images I file away have huge branches with leafy greens accenting the room so I went big and whoa, I can't recommend them enough. They look amazingly realistic! They are substantial and show-stopping and the taller branches are only 9.99 each (I used 5 here.)
Also! Last month, I also ordered that little candle stand off Amazon for under $15. I will admit, I thought it was going to be larger, but now I'm so glad it wasn't! I think it was advertised as a soap stand, but I love it to give a candle a little boost and it's large enough to hold a handsome box of matches, too. Honestly, I never realized how happy a candle stand would make me.
More fun things this week!
• I came across this kitchen from Park and Oak Design this week (and then spent an hour drooling over their entire portfolio) and we were so struck with how similar it lined up with the vision for our future kitchen. We're taking so much inspiration from it. Aren't the details and warmth incredible?!
• My favorite gifts to receive are the ones that I didn't even know I needed but help my life in some way. My family draws names for Christmas and one of my brother in laws got me this year . (We keep it secret so it's not like you can ask the person what they want). He ended up getting me two of these Slice box cutters (we notoriously have a stack of boxes to open at all times) and our entire office is hooked on them! They're so ergonomic and work incredibly well. A definite life improver!
• Another fun gift I got? These tennis shoes. (That I promise promise promise I won't wear while painting. )
• I saw two movies in the theater over the break and came away with loads of interior inspiration from each. Little Women (their completely slate gray house stole my heart over and over) and Knives Out --which was filled to the brim with moody character and incredible wallpaper. Did you see either? I really, truly loved both movies so much!
• We just opened our THIRD semester of our Good Influencer Working With Brands Course. It has become a passion of ours to teach others in our field how to flourish in this rapidly growing industry. They just announced that Social Media Ad Spend just surpassed print for the FIRST TIME! If you're interested, in this course, we teach how to get paid to work with the brands you love-- check it out here!
• My sister is enthralled with the Royals, so this week has been shocking for her and incredibly intriguing to me--however, my eyes get larger with the more I learn! Overall, I'm happy for Harry and Meghan, but I am sure it's not the end of it. The comment section on this blog is RIVETING and educational.
Hope you have a Happy Friday! We're hoping to share our painted bedroom Monday so we'll be busy!!!
Wow! Your grey refinished cabinets combined with an entire white subway wall? So beautiful!
The grey cabinets and white subway tile are a beautiful combo. If you are wanting to go grey but affordable I heard (a href="https://www.nhance.com/seattlewoodrefinishing/">N-Hance Wood Refinishing) these guys do a good job! Grey is scary but if you can get it done affordably if you hate it you can always refinish your cabinets, right?
Great inspo, thanks for sharing!
Hi there! Is that rug a Loloi rug? It’s no longer available on McGee and Co, and trying to find where I can buy it elsewhere. Thank you so much!
I absolutely love the rug in your office, and I was so sad to see that it is now out of stock. Do you have any ideas/sources for a similar rug?
I found it for you on Wayfair: https://rstyle.me/+dxyyar28bDH3rt1d8wVs1Q
Love all of the materials in here! Great job! Is the rug under the office table really the charcoal color on McGee and Co.? It seems so much lighter in the office pictures than what it shows on their website. Also, do you think it's an ok thickness for a living room? I have been eyeing it for awhile and was excited to see you guys used it, but wondered if it might be too thin.
It's a very thick and cushy rug, but I'd describe it as more of an olive-y charcoal myself.
Your brother-in-law is a smart man!
Where is the reclining chair from? It was’nt tagged!
Love the office!! All of it!
What is the art on your frame tv? Thank you!
love the floor and those incredible big stems from target. haven't seen little women yet... but that slate home.... gah!!! love love love it!! looking to do some remodeling in 2020 and super excited to follow along with your blog for inspiration and know-how!!!
What is the name of the art work on the tv? It looks great!
The image right below your “we are getting g so much inspo from THIS kitchen” comment happened to be an ad, an image of a super traditional 90’s kitchen with curly-cue light fixtures and heavy mahogany hues And details...all things I don’t associate with you! Thank goodness I kept scrolling to see the real inspo!
i saw both movies over break too! i loved knives out story line but i was distracted by the set design many times!! and YES! to the march house in little women. i saw the house and thought to myself well this look will be trending now! loved the all dark exterior
Love that KITCHEN!
The painting on your TV ????????????????????????????????????????????????
Is that art on the frame TV? Could you share the name, or is it a self loaded one?
I love Elizabeth Holmes's (no, not THAT Elizabeth Holmes) blog and her instagram account! Her royal commentary is so insightful and fun. So happy to see her shared here!
Thank you for sharing your office. Can you please let me know what art or artist is on your frame tv? Thank you!
Love everything about this!! So creative to use multiple sideboards together... wondering why you chose to do that instead of “built in” cabinets? I’m considering doing something similar along a long wall in a multi/purpose family room and wondering if you considered both and why you chose these? Thanks!!!
I think BOTH are really great options. I didn't really want to add a countertop here (if you do built in cabinets--a countertop is a must) so this one won.
Oh man! A candle holder? Cannot believe I've never thought of this. My candle currently sits all sad, without a holder. Just bought this adorable creature. Thank you so much for sharing!
Looks beautiful! Are the walls Alabaster? What color do you paint the ceilings then. Feeling inspired.
Both Alabaster!! We're going for that in the whole house.
I haven't seen the movie, but the trailer for Knives Out definitely gave me sweater knitting inspiration!
Looks amazing! I'm excited you chose the Laurelhurst, I am also considering buying it for over my kichen table, but as 2 separate pendants with the glass lens. How do you look when lit? I wanted less of a glare than a clear glass. I look forward to seeing more pics. Thanks!!
It's so gorgeous! We love it so much!
Love, love, love this room! So beautiful.
Do you recall what length Laurelhurst this is? We are considering this for above our dining table but not sure how low to go. We have 8 foot ceilings. Thanks!
Hi Julia- How are these floors/the floors around the house with the kiddos? Do you see every crumb/hair/kid residue with this lighter color?
It's hard to say just yet because the majority of the floors are still covered in protective paper. We'll keep you posted, but so far we're impressed!
Those stems are great. Just set an alert for when they come back in stock. Excited to see an update in your bedroom next week.
Come visit Massachusetts! So many gorgeous historic homes.
Looking at the office space pics you just posted...I think you made the right choice not going with the rust couch. I think adding rust elements to it will bring in the rust colors from the table. IMO
We exclusively use Slice cutters at work and Slice also send me an assortment of cutters for our home. They are the best- no sharp blades!
That Park and Oak kitchen has been in my top five for a while...sad it wasn’t discovered before I did my kitchen!
