• I've had a lot of compliments on my hair recently--thank you! I'll share my secret again--I wear clip-in hair extensions! I wear these Barefoot Blonde clip-ins in the color Brown Sugar. I had them cut about 1-1.5 inches longer than my normal hair so it blends really well and just gives me volume and thickness. I've had a lot of hair loss after Polly and it was compounded with my Hashimoto's, but I have a ton of regrowth right now, thanks to being on the right dose of medication, sticking to a strict Thyroid-boosting diet and taking these vitamins 4x a day! But seriously, the clip ins are my hair life line! They can be styled just like regular hair too, but I only have to run a curling iron through them every few weeks! It has cut my hair styling time to almost non-existent.
• Planning on wearing these white sneakers with everything this Spring/Summer.
• This kitchen hood is giving me heart palpitations. Definitely saving it for a future kitchen design!
• Just racking my brain trying to figure out where I can put this sconce!
• Lastly, (but definitely not least) on International Women's day, I'm inspired by this exercise from Yoko Ono:
I grew up in a family of 5 girls (no brothers) and my mom was actually named Mother of the Year for the state of Pennsylvania when I was about 10. She had to go to a big convention and bring one object that described her family. Guess what she brought...a BRA! She said "we are feminine and lift and support each other." To this day, when I see women tearing other women down or talking negatively about them, I think about what my mom said all those years ago. We are all meant to lift and support. Women are so many things worth celebrating!
I suffered from crazy hair loss after I stopped nursing my first, and am about to that stage with my second baby, but hoping to maybe get ahead of the game! So lots of questions for you!:)
- How are you liking your hair growth vitamins?
- Do you really take them 4x a day? That seems like a lot! (But if it gets results, I'm up for the challenge!!:)
- Have you ever had any issues with ordering vitamins off of Amazon? I've heard some people worry about getting expired pills, or even fake pills, so they recommend always getting vitamins and skin care through local stores (Target, Walgreens), or online places like Ulta, Sephora, etc.
I'd appreciate any feedback! Love everything you and Chris do! My #1 fav insta account!!!:)
My doctor recommended those specific vitamins from Amazon and I take 4 a day! Two in the morning and two at night.
Awesome! I've ordered them for myself! Fingers crossed it cuts back on my post baby hair loss!:) Thank you!!
Hey there! Not related to this post but a previous one... Just got my Olive and Linen towels and I'm extremely surprised to see you can't put them in the dryer?!? Do you seriously line dry and iron your kitchen towels??? Please do tell because I really like them but can't do that high maintenance for my kitchen towels!
I dry them!
Hello Julia and Chris!
Can you make a post or share more about your Thyroid boosting diet. The recipes that Chris shares with us on Sundays are part of your diet? Thank you for all your wonderful content and for the wonderful recipes. They help me a lot, which is an area that I struggle with. ❤
Hi Julia, I'd love an insight into this as well please. What does your thyroid boosting diet look like? Wonder if it is vegetarian friendly?!
I'm not a vegetarian, but it's not high in meat at all. I'll have to share more soon!
Yesss!!???? I saw fullmhouse insta story try on Tuesday and I loved it. I wrote down some of the products to try them myself. Thank you!
I'm excited to see how you'll handle a quick flip! It feels like such a contrast to your slower-paced design process that allows you to really get a feel by giving each step room to breathe, and settle. It will be no doubt beautiful - yet so intrigued by how things will be different.
Love your mom!
I can't think of anything that I loved to watch more than a Chris Loves Julia house flipping show!! You are both so talented! Crossing my fingers that this happens someday! In the meantime, have fun with your first flip, it's going to be amazing!
You're so sweet! We've been asked by every network a couple dozen times and a TV show just isn't for us! We love controlling our content, bringing you guys along for the ride in real time and down time with our girls way too much.
Who knew you could laugh so much following along a flip hunting video? What a great Friday post!
I love what your mom said! And such a good reminder, not to speak negatively of others, regardless of gender. Also, I bought two new trays today after your recent post :) Time to corral the bedside clutter and cleaning spray bottles!
I have my fingers crossed for your flip house! I can't wait to see how you hopefully breathe life into one of these deserving homes :) What a fun video for an exciting new chapter. I really appreciate your kind words about my bathroom renovation. xox
Y’all are cracking me up in that video. Chris descending into the scary basement = me screaming “don’t go in there!!” But also that double floor flip up to staircase was pretty charming.
I guess basements must be really common there? There are no basements here, everything is built on a crawl space (Raleigh, NC).
It's very unusual to NOT have a basement here. Everything has to be built below the freeze line if you go down at all which translates to basements everywhere!
Ok, you just sent me down a hair extensions rabbit hole that was quite fun and I ordered some samples from BFB! My hair's wavy/curly and fine/thinnish but as I've gotten older it's way more wave than spiral curl to the point I think extensions could be curled and blended in naturally . Will have to see if the texture is too coarse to blend with mine. Also glad to see that brand has a $60 collarbone-length extension option which would suit me perfectly in both price and length.
I have fine hair and have a full set of the BFB extensions. They blend just fine!! They send you A LOT of hair. I tried to wear them all together at first and I felt like Stevie Nicks. Eventually I ended up leaving some long, cutting some mid length and some the length of my hair for added fullness. They’re real fun! Recommend.
Great stuff here. All of it. Thanks!!
Great video!
Is it difficult to hide the clip part of the extensions? I have fine hair that is pretty thin in my old age (39!) and worry that I don’t have enough hair to hide them!
I have pretty fine hair too! I put my highest full weft at my ear line so there's a really small chance of them showing. I wear two on the sides higher, but the wefts are so close and flat to your head I think you'll be pleasantly surprised
How long would you say it takes you to put them in each day, now that you know what you’re doing? I already changed my makeup routine last winter thanks to your tips so I really trust your judgement!
I'll put them in on stories this weekend for you guys if you want. I'd say it takes under two minutes
Yes! Please do!
Love this post and soooo happy to see you moving forward. I can feel a collective mending of broken hearts :)
Hi Julia! I know this is an old post but is there a saved instastory or any other video of you putting these extensions in? You look great!
Julia,
How long do the extensions last for you? On the company website, it recommends replacing every 4-6 months. Do you replace them this often?
Thanks!
I just got new ones. I've had my last ones since last May if that helps. I washed and conditioned mine and took really good care of them but recently they just looked a little haggard so I replaced them.
Your mom sounds pretty fantastic! a BRA! haha love that so much!
This is only loosely related to what you wrote about. But I love the bra that represents your sisters and Mom. It reminds me of a billboard I've seen. There's a group of women on it and it says "Know your girls like you know your girls". I can't remember who put it out, but it's about knowing your breast health. I smile every time I see it, and your story made me think of it.
