Casual Friday

Casual Friday: January 11, 2019

January 11, 2019

• Happy Friday! This week I feel like I got my groove back. I got back into my normal early morning gym sessions, drinking my celery juice first thing, getting ready for the workday and heading down to my office by 8:30. It felt good to be productive and tackling my to-do lists. One of my goals for the year is to shut my computer and feel prepared for the next day by 5pm every day. That doesn't mean I won't pick it up after the girls are in bed to work on future projects, but being fully prepared for the next day so I can enjoy my family without weight on my shoulders is something I've been working toward every day and my life feels improved already.

• This week, we shared a micro project, hanging curtains in our bedroom, on Instagram--I saved it to my highlights in case you missed it! You may remember that when we were updating our room last year I never could decide on curtains. I got a bunch of samples and even ordered the rod, but for some reason I couldn't commit to anything beyond that. Then two weeks ago, during a West Elm sale, I bought 4 of these worn velvet panels and one night this week, we finally remedied our extremely off-centered window. Here's how it looked before. It's definitely one of those WHY DID WE WAIT SO LONG moments.

This is a painting! What?!

• After picking up one of our own, I'm convinced every house needs this.

• What do you do when you've had a hard day? How do you regroup? For me, I let it out in a good cry if I need to. Take a hot shower, put on my favorite sunless tanner (it's my confidence booster!) and watch a show in bed with Chris, while eating a pomegranate--it's the happiest snack for me! And then I thought--why wait for a bad day!? How do you shake off your bad days?

This. And This!

This makeup brush cleaner mat is a must have (I got one for my friend for Christmas and went back to get one for me, too!)

We are headed up to the cabin this weekend to get started on a bathroom renovation and keep working on the kitchen--it has to be done this month for our cabinet line launch and we have A LOT left to do.

  1. giiiiirrrrlll, you eat a pomegranate on that beautiful white bedding?! I legitimately snort-laughed when I read that line then gasped. That sunless tanner must send your confidence right on through the roof to eat that red grenade in bed!

  2. I'm totally with you on the good cry and a hot shower on a bad day. To me, a hot shower solves a multitude of problems!

I love the sink rack, but I can't see how I would use it.... sell me on it!

  3. Is there a 2019 Projects list coming? Or are you already knee-deep in them? Living vicariously through you as I’m trying to think of goals/mini projects that I might be able to accomplish with my apartment.

  4. I gasped when I clicked on “This is a painting”. Adam is my husband’s best friend since college and one of the absolute best people you’ll ever meet! An incredible artist!!

  5. I have to admit- when I saw your Instagram stories about the curtains, I was a bit hesitant about the window looking so much smaller just to have it centered on the wall. But after seeing the above picture I am totally sold and think it was such a good decision :) Cheering you on as you finish the cabin kitchen! So excited to see it!

  6. Causal Friday! My favorite posts on the internet. Loooobe those master curtains. I’m so inspired to get actual real life adult curtain in my bedroom and living room.

  7. Love love love the new curtains in the master. Are you considering switching them out for something lighter in the summer months? A light grey linen might look pretty too. Love how the master has turned out!!
