Happy November! I'm excited to share with you our simple fall front porch that I easily transitioned from Halloween to Thanksgiving with a couple budget-friendly finds from World Market.
Pumpkins are the perfect seasonal decor from late September through November, so I knew going with that theme would give me the biggest bang for my buck. And I had to have a cheeky doormat to go along with it. When Chris and I were brainstorming what it should say, I eventually blurted out, "Hi, Pumpkin!" real sweetly and we both started cracking up. Now we say it every time we come home.
I used this super high quality, thick coir mat from World Market and stenciled on the words. I promise the hardest part was making sure it ended up centered--I just played with the stencils (I used these that are just over 2") until there was an even amount left over on each side.
Using a foam brush and exterior paint (that's important!), I dipped my sponge into the paint, blotted the excess onto a paper plate and then pushed the paint, in an up and down motion (going side-to-side on such a textured surface could get paint under the stencil real quick), into the mat right over top of the stencil.
Isn't the result so cute? I'm happy to say it has withstood foot traffic for the last few weeks and still looks good as new.
In the midst of the pumpkins, I placed two metal lanterns (so chic inside or out) with these birch flameless candles inside.
Up top, we traded our Halloween cobwebs for two lovely, live olive and eucalyptus garlands, that smell so amazing, I couldn't think of anything more I'd rather greet our guests with this season. We've had it for a few weeks (and used it as a table runner, garland swag from our chandelier and over our door), and it still looks beautiful even though it has dried out some. I can tell it will last us all month, without problem.
Let's call the wood-cut leaf garland swagged across the threshold the cherry on top.

Love! What type of paint did you use? Did you just get a quart of exterior paint or is there something smaller I could get?
You can get the little tester size - they have maybe 1 cup of paint, which is plenty.
Hi! Love this! Can you tell me what size of buffalo check rug you used? I just want to make sure I get one big enough! Thank you!
24x36 I think?
This looks so warm and inviting. You have me thinking of a cheeky saying for a doormat all my own. :)
Hi Julia love all the items; though I would mention target also has the plain doormat for less than half the price for whom ever is looking to replicate your entry way (me) and is loooking for a little bit more a savings :) .

I love those lanterns paired with the birch candles! So chic but still so welcoming. I wish I'd seen this post before purchasing our door mat because I would've loved to have customized ours!

Question about your front door trim. Does the siding fit behind the trim or is there a separate piece of j-channel there? Thanks!
There's a piece of J-channel.
Love these creative ideas. So simple, yet so effective. Brilliant.
Love the inspiration to spruce up the front porch! Also, that garland is beautiful!!
