Stenciled hallways aren't for everyone, and we have come to the conclusion, they aren't for us. And the funny thing is, we don't think that it looks bad. Which may leave you as confused as we have been since I finished stenciling our hallway a couple weeks back. I love the sheen. I love the colors. I love the stencil design--but I just don't love it in our house. It doesn't feel right. Especially this view:
The traditional design of the stencil is clashing with the more contemporary artwork and light fixture in the dining room. Which is a little ironic because the reason I took down our gallery wall going up the stairs was because it was too much with the stencil.
So, the hallway is getting another fresh coat of Cape Hatteras Sand (the same light gray we have used throughout the main floor) and we are just chalking it up to another lesson learned. Thank goodness it was just paint and not wallpaper!
As for that stairway wall, do I owe it an apology? I think so. In the midst of all the stenciling and thinking and deciding and repainting, we came up with a brand new idea for that space. We have big plans for that this weekend. Can't wait to show and tell.
!! You guys keep me on my toes with all this changing! love it!
Haha Julie you are an unstoppable machine. I could never go through the work of stenciling and paint over it in a matter of months! Onto the next idea! Onward!
