We shared some office progress a couple weeks ago, but every day, we work on it a little more. Hang lights! Hang a picture. Hang a TV. Load up the storage. Rearrange the storage. We're getting hardwood floors put in here over the next couple weeks, so everything will get emptied out for that, so we haven't added too much yet. We spend so much time in here for work and our family has been in here together after work because it's kind of the only room that isn't torn apart. And even though we're moved out for now, our office is still in operation for the time being. We've been making conscious efforts to keep it a peaceful place, even with construction going on right through the wall — and we even found a solution for that that we keep stored in a basket for easy access.
Every once in a while, we get introduced to a product that we love so passionately, we wonder how we ever lived without it before. Such is the story of our relationship with 3M™ WorkTunes™Connect Hearing Protector. We’ve put them on gift guides unsolicited because they are that good. So we thought it was only right to do a dedicated post with them just to make sure no one misses the memo: THESE HEARING PROTECTORS ARE AMAZING
It’s no secret that living and working in a construction zone brings with it a lot of noise. Our lives changed when we started using this product. For starters, the hearing protection helps to reduce exposure to hazardous noise such as hammering or power tools. Just as you would wear safety glasses or other safety protection, these sound levels can damage your hearing, so it’s important to wear the proper ear protection. Anytime anyone (or everyone!) in the office wants to escape for a minute, we’re able to drown out the sounds of jackhammers (or movies, or talking!) and actually focus on the blog we’re writing or the emails we’re answering.
And get this (because it’s actually my favorite part) — they aren’t just passive earmuffs, they have Bluetooth wireless technology that lets us seamlessly stream our playlists and podcasts from our phones (and any other Bluetooth-enabled device). The high-fidelity speakers provide premium sound quality — so they sound good and help protect your hearing! I like to listen to Instrumental Study music when I’m deep in work mode and now I can do that without forcing anyone else to. Win, win (win)
They also have an integrated microphone which lets us make and take phone calls without removing the hearing protection. (We can actually hear who’s on the other line! No more: “Sorry… hang on…”). My phone rings, my headphones are on and Cathy on the other end of the call has no idea there’s 5 guys with nail guns 15 feet away from me.
Finally, they’re lightweight, so our ears and heads never hurt from extended wear. There’s a built-in rechargeable battery (and a charging cord included, of course), and the headband is flexible and even has cutouts for when we’re wearing hats. Chris is already fantasizing about his long winter of clearing snow, and that has maybe never happened before.
Despite what's happening all around us, we've been striving to keep our office and whole house a refuge of sorts and it has been such a game-changer. The 3M™ WorkTunes™ have brought us peace, productivity, and protection. We’re in love and just want everyone to know it.
Hi! Ok I asked awhile back about where you purchased your Eames (thank you for letting me know). I'm still on an IG break so maybe you've already shared but I would love to hear a review from you guys about the chair! I used to work for a family who owned an authentic Eames chair. So I'm a little spoiled and really familiar with the look and quality of the real deal but my wallet is not...HA!...anyways my husband is tall like both of you, how do you feel it works with your height? Is the recline just right? How's the over all quality and comfortability? Is the leather shiny? I know I can read other reviews and I have but I trust you guys to be honest but also not have out of whack expectations of a replica. Any help or review you're willing to give is greatly appreciated! I'm ready to make a purchase! Thanks in advance!
Julia-can you please tell us where your shoes are from? Love them!
Hi, I'm writing this comment because of a technical problem others might be having, too. I can't actually see this post, and only got here via the "next post" button on the post one older than it. Right now, I also only have the comment form and some comments visible. As there are very few – uncommonly few – comments, it might be affecting others, too.
When I opened your page early today, I saw a glimpse of the picture of the two of you for less than a second, but when the page finished loading, the older post was on top. I thought it was weird, but when I clicked over to Instagram, I saw your post there had that picture, so I assumed it was some weirdness with a preview and there was no new post yet (I always see them soon after they appear since it matches my time zone well). But you also said you'd be posting details, so I went back just now to see if the site updated. Then, the same thing happened with the short glimpse and then no new post visible, so I checked if there was a "next" button on the last visible post.
Not sure if it's maybe just a problem on my end, but the way this happens and the comment count makes me think maybe not, so I decided to say something.
I'm on a Mac laptop, using (an older version of) Chrome.
I have the same issue on my laptop (Dell, W10), but I can see the post on my Kindle Fire.
I can now see the new post after it, but this one is still invisible, both on the landing page and here above the comments.
Oh my gosh this is perfect. Our office is going through construction for the next year + (in the lobby and I’m on the 12th floor and it’s STILL SO LOUD). I wasn’t prepared to shell out for Bose over the ear - this is much more in budget! (And just in time for holiday gifts too!) Thanks CLJ!
Thanks for the heads up. My son wears ear protection at work so he cannot listen to his music. I just ordered a pair of the 3M headphones for him. Now if only I can find your clogs... :)
Getting these to encourage my husband to wear ear protection when working. Wait, seriously only $35???
SERIOUSLY!
I came across these on your gift list and immediately thought that's just what my husband needs. Apparently he agreed as a packaged arrived in the mail that same day as he had already ordered them. Why does he only buys himself things a month before Christmas?!? Anyways, I haven't used them personally but my husband seems to be really happy with his purchase.
I am so glad you posted this today. I have been racking my brain for something for my husband for Christmas. This just reminded me that my teenager broke his old pair of noise cancelling earmuffs. His only had radio and you had to use a cord to plug your phone into them. He will love that you can Bluetooth to your phone and even answer a call. Mowing season next summer just got better!
I was just thinking that you guys had to have been wearing some sort of noise cancelling headphones for day to day.
THIRTY-FIVE DOLLARS!?!? That's amazing. I read the whole post and thought "wow- sounds like a genuine rave review. I bet they're like $300 though!." *click the link* *jaw drops*. Adding to my cart now! Will be a great gift for my dad who wears hearing protection when he mows their lawn. It takes him over an hour to cut the whole lawn, so he'll be so excited that he can listen to music too!
My fantasy headphones would connect my husband to his tv so I'd never have to hear the news discussed ad nauseum. Do they make wireless headphones that connect to the TV? Sign me up!
Or I could wear headphones to block him out ...
....i do the latter hahaha
They do make these. We've had them for years. Ours are by Sennheiser, but there may be newer stuff out by now. It's great for us because of my husband's hearing loss I don't have to hear the TV at high volume and he loves them because he can't hear me either. lol
Patricia, they sell (on Amazon, at least) devices that do turn a TV into a bluetooth device so they can stream to headphones! Thinking about getting one for when I'm on the treadmill so I don't have to turn the TV volume up so loudly to hear over the sound of the machine.
yes! they make headphones that connect to the tv. they are the best gift I ever gave my dad who is a little hard of hearing. He has been using them for years. He can turn up the news as loud as he wants and the room tv volume can be whatever we need it to be. perfection! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0001FTVEK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Our Roku remote has a headphone jack so you can listen without everyone else needing to hear what you're watching.
