Our Joss & Main collection went live last night!! Ahhh!!! Thank you so much for the support with this project we've been working on for the past couple months. The sale will go through Thursday right here. If you aren't a member yet, feel free to use this link to get right in. Also, weird note--if you view our "lookbook" on the curator sale page (where they wrote about us and our collection), they flipped the very first photo of our living room and it. is. trippy! Onward...
Our kitchen is wrapping up. Within the next few weeks, the countertops will be done (give us a couple just more days there), the walls will be tiled, we'll figure out some genius window treatment and that room will be new and improved and d-o-n-e. With the warmer weather coming--
please, oh please come--we can't wait to get our hands dirty with a garden and a pergola and landscaping and a playset for Greta? So many things to do out there. But, you know us, we like to keep at least two projects going at a time so we can jump around as we please. With that, we've decided to turn a little more attention to our bedroom, especially since
Greta's has officially outdone ours in a major way.
After living with the paint color (Martha Stewart's Mushroom) for a year and a half--I still love it. We both do. But the funny thing is--a dark room, although cozy to the max--is hard for me wake up in. Maybe it is too cozy?! I even found an inspiring photo I pinned awhile ago from Lonny with almost an identical paint color that we could possibly use as inspiration:
But as much as we love that room, and the paint color--I think we'd like to try something a little more fresh and invigorating.
We've had several white/light swatches taped to our wall for about a month and I think I am ready to pull the trigger on a fresh, but hopefully just as cozy room.
When it comes to your bedroom, do you prefer dark and cozy, or light and bright? The jury is still out for us.
Oh Man...I just posted today about my dark moody bedroom....err umm. Now I'm second guessing! Why is paint so nerve racking!
Our bedroom is battleship gray with eggplant bedding and celery accents. It's my favorite room in the house! However, there are five windows and five doors, so there's a lot of white trim to break up the gray, which I think makes all the difference. It also gets a decent amount of light, so the gray isn't oppressive.
We used Glidden Kestrel Gray, but this gray is similar: http://images.myperfectcolor.com/repositories/images/colors/MPC00058541-2.jpg
First time commenting, but I've been a long time reader (since the striped curtains in the family room). I just had to chime in. Please tell me you are leaning toward the wood plank wall?! It just screams you.
We are still pin-pointing the exact designs--hopefully we'll have a mood board for you next week sometime, but we do lo-ove those planks!
So funny! Our bedroom is light and bright right now and I really want to paint the walls a moody color to make it more cozy!
we have a light light blue on the walls with gauzy white drapes. our furniture is a mix of painted white and dark woods. we like to think it's island-y... it is perfect to wake up in, because the gradually brightening daylight is the absolute best alarm clock :)
LOVE your blog and cannot wait to see what you do!
Sounds dreamy. Thanks!
Our bedroom - walls, trim, ceiling - is all painted the same shade of white (Benjamin Moore Sea Pearl). I've never had an all white room in my house before but now I kind of mucho love it. It just feels so serene and peaceful. Its not even something I consciously notice... I just feel my body relax and calm down when I go into the bedroom. I've had darker painted rooms and while I love the look, after a while, they felt kind of heavy especially if its a room you use constantly.
I love, love, love your room, Jen! I'm going to make sure I have a sea pearl swatch on our walls, too.
I love our dark bedroom walls, but I totally see where you are coming from :) That picture with the light planked walls (and dogs! ha) is absolutely dreamyyy. That's my fav for sure.
I love it! Feels so fresh and modern!!
Three of the five images are also bedroom inspiration for me so I really can't wait to see what you come up with. I can't decided between light and airy and dark moody and cozy myself! I think eventually I'll do white walls with one dark accent wall.
I have the new paint for our bedroom all ready to go - just need to find the time and effort to paint it. We're going dark and cozy and one of my worries was that it may feel TOO dark and cozy. But two other rooms in our house {M's nursery and the mudroom} are dark and I love them. To hear that you have tired of your dark bedroom scares me a little! Oh well. It's just paint, right?
Dana, I can't WAIT to see your darker bedroom. We aren't tired of our bedroom color, we just feel tired in it. Hahahaha. But if we feel blinded by something lighter, you're absolutely right--it's just paint.
We have a lighter gray wall (and ceiling - gotta love those sloped lines in a cape cod!) in our bedroom and it is the perfect shade for us. I can definitely see how having something darker would be almost too cozy and comfortable in the morning - and I already have a hard time waking up :)

So soothing!
Our bedroom is a dark grey and I still love it. I actually painted the room at our new house the same dark grey from our last house because I love it so much. In the summer, I changed the bedding from cosy and dark to light and bright to make the space feel more bright.
That's a good idea!!
The wood panels!!!! I had to refrain from typing in all caps there. Those are GOREGEOUS!! So warm, relaxing, neutral, and NATURAL! Lovely.
I like the one with the antlers :)
The striped sheets!!!! Love.
I'm not sure what we love yet, but key for me is black out curtain liners. That way, you can have a bright room, but when it comes time for bed--and naps, you can shut off the light outside. Absolutely key in a very sunny place. Best invention ever!
Those pictures are all amazing. I love the pop of color, the wood planked walls are intriguing, and the big framed pieces of art above the bed. I'm not sure when we will be able to afford a REAL bedfame, so I'm always on the hunt for a good wall behind the bed inspiration and I love that 4 frame picture.
6* picture frame wall.
I totally noticesd the living room being flipped in the lookbook. Really strange looking!! And btw... I am really excited to see what you guys do in here. We're buying a house that needs overhauled from top to bottom. I really need bedroom inspiration.
Ok.... OFFICIALLY OBSESSED WITH YOUR BLOG! My fiance and I just bought our first house, and you guys have such a way of making even big projects seem doable (painting kitchen cabinets seems a lot less intimidating after your tutorial.. I think I read a few of those "this is the hardest project in the world!" tutorials before finding yours). Also the design of your blog is badass, just saying. You've gained a new reader!
Ahh! Katelyn, Thank you so much.
Oh I recognize that room by Emily Henderson! Love it. I also LOVE the room with the wood plank wall behind the bed. That looks cozy and bright!
Our room is light and bright, but most of our furniture is dark (either dark brown or black). I do like a dark, moody room, but wanted our master bedroom to be light and bright to make it easier to wake up. Our son's room (he's 3) is a dark moody blue. I think I was hoping that giving him a dark room would make him sleep in later, and giving us a bright room for make it easier to wake up earlier! haha
That's exactly how I'm feeling....still in bed at 8am.
We just redid our bedroom. It was a dark gray purple and I grew so tired of it! Now it's a fresh green-blue neutral that light and bright and oh so relaxing. See: http://www.idlepress.com/simpleprettythings/mini-bedroom-makeover/
Couldn't love the change more! So excited about the Joss & Main event. I can't wait to see the finished kitchen!!!
So fresh! I love it!
