Remember that little problem we had with
Chris's clothes not having a home? Well, problem fixed! Saturday, we took a little trip to our favorite store--well, maybe it is just my favorite store--IKEA! They have a slew of amazing wardrobes, some of them are close to $1000, and we were definitely NOT looking to spend that kind of money. Fortunately, we found one that Chris could customize however he would like for the right price...and in a nice charcoal gray--we were both happy. Until we got home, then we were a little bummed.
First off, like most things from Ikea, you gotta assemble it yourself which is no problem-o because like I told Chris, "I'm an expert instruction follower." But, we had a lot of heavy boxes to carry in and I'm pretty sure at that point, my hubs was hoping I was a body builder instead of an "instruction follower." "Honey! It's slipping, it's slipping!" and "Ahh! This is so awkward! Can't we rotate!" and lots of other huffs and puffs coming from my end. We managed, until the next doozy. The thing was two inches too tall for our bedroom! This is where I got really quiet and just let Chris think things through. The last thing I wanted to do is be my normal suggestion-giving self and drive my guy bananas....some more. He decided the best solution would be to cut it, drill some more holes (to replace ones being cut off) and sand the edges smooth again. The other option would be returning it for one 20 inches smaller, but who would want that dinky wardrobe?

It doesn't get much hotter than your husband being all manly, right?! |
We rearranged the layout of our room, and moved the elliptical, and the desk from the nursery into the back nook-like area of our room. The wardrobe joined the group back there, too.

Laying out all of the pieces before starting. |
Chris told me that I had better be sure about where I want the wardrobe, because it isn't moving after that. I told him I was "SO SURE" that I wanted it right, smack dab in the center on the back wall.

The frame of the wardrobe |
I was so wrong. There was no room for the chair of the desk and I just wasn't feeling it. We moved it. Hehehe.
|
The wardrobe looks so black here, but it's def gray...we promise. |
Now it is on the right wall. We really want to hang some panels (like the one below) on the left and right, as a room divider and to hide the elliptical and the wardrobe a little. Also, those decals will most likely be coming off. They were fun while I liked them--but we got a different vibe going now.

Ikea panel curtain...I'll take two please! |
And for the final look, with all of the customizations and clothes in place: Chris's wardrobe. He chose a shirt rack (an obvious, but good choice), with a shelf below it, two drawers and a rack for pants (and ties) that slides out. Oh! He is giddy, and that makes me happy. Of course, our room still needs a lot of work. I want to paint the desk, install panels for room dividers, take off the decals, remount the tv in front of our bed, and hang some art work...and I am sure when I am done with all that--I'll think of some more. No worries, the entertainment is never ending 'round here.
YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
It looks SOOOO GOOD! I love it!
Love IKEA and I hate that our closest one is like Orlando. SO, we can't exactly get furniture and bring it back in our little subaru.
YOUR BEDROOM IS GINORMOUS. Jealous. You guys rock. Can you come decorate my bedroom??
