When we bought this home in the summer, we had plans to turn this room into an office, but we're so much happier to transform it into a nursery in the coming months. We have a direction for this room, but not a complete mood board put together yet. I think that will be one of the first posts of the new year. So far, we have painted the crib and this weekend we painted the room taking it from blue:
To a peaceful white:
The nursery is on the main floor (right across from our bedroom) and so while we thought about color schemes and accents on this level, the nursery was right in the middle of the plan. We have a
dark navy,
sophisticated green, and
a light gray-ish taupe already on this level. We're leaning toward a charcoal grasscloth wallpaper for our bedroom right now (mmm) and the nursery seemed like the perfect place for a highlight.
Ace Hardware's "White Mosaic" is a beautiful, perfect white I'm so glad I stumbled upon.
Whites are kind of hard, you know. There are so many and so many undertones. White Mosaic looked the purest. No gray undertones, no yellows, or blues. Just a beautiful calm white. Being a part of the
Ace Blogger panel, we used the opportunity to use their Clark + Kensington's paint and primer in one (in eggshell) again--the same brand that
we used for our great room and stand by it being a good budget brand, starting at just $25/gallon.
As you can see, we bought an unfinished wood dresser from Ikea too (the Tarva). Our friends actually bought it and it didn't fit in their space so we bought it off of them and are excited to put some sort of finish to it as the rest of the room comes together. The next project in here is actually removing the carpet and laying new floors and painting all the trim and the doors the same white in a glossier sheen--but that's another post for another day. ;)
Of course the best part of working with Ace Hardware is sharing the love with our neighbors and you, too. Today, $100 Ace Hardware gift card is up for grabs to one lucky reader. You can use it on or toward anything your DIY heart desires. Enter using the Rafflecopter widget below. Giveaway runs through Thursday, December 19th at 10pm MST. Take Luck!

This design is wicked! You certainly know how to keep a reader
entertained. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost
moved to start my own blog (well, almost...HaHa!) Fantastic job.
I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more
than that, how you presented it. Too cool!
I love the simplicity of pure white. I can't wait to see what you dream up with the Tarva dresser and the rest of the room. I've seen a few gorgeous hacks online as I'm sure you also have too. :)
Tarva dresser hacks, just to clarify...not room hacks. Ugh #mommybrain
I'm due June 1st and all I have on the brain are nurseries and all things baby related! So fun to see this nursery coming together. I'd go for white walls and natural woods, too!
Have you guys considered leaving the dresser unfinished, or at least looking unfinished by putting some sort of sealer on it? I think it he natural tone looks so beautiful against the white.
I think so too! We have no plans for the dresser right now. Although I didn't put on the hardware that came with it on purpose knowing we'll likely do SOMETHING! Inspiration hasn't struck yet though.
I agree - the natural wood tone looks so sweet for a nursery! I know whatever you do, I'll be all, I love it!
By the way, I really like white for the nursery walls - I always thought if we ever had a human kiddo, we'd go with white walls. So calm. So serene.
Oops, I'm due before you (only a few weeks it sounds!) and our office is, well.. still looking exactly like it did when we found out in August. Hah. But sounds like you have big plans! And new flooring.. color me impressed.
Our flooring project that we're starting after the new year (details coming!) will surely take us a long time so we're knocking out any little thing we can before that starts. Congrats on your little one, too! So sweet!
That carpet looks kinda scary! Can't wait to see this room come together! Can you even imagine that this time next year you might be planning on getting the girls to share a room!? It was the BEST decision for us to move Ellie in before her first birthday. Those two sleep better together than alone. It's amazing!
The carpet throughout the house is pretty atrocious. Can't WAIT to rip it up. I think that is so cute and interesting that your girls sleep so well together. We have no plans of putting the two girls in the same room until they ask (if that ever happens), but who knows what the future holds.
