Shadow

October 27, 2010

Ever since the decision to stay in this apartment, I have gone into overdrive.  I unpacked and passed on the boxes to someone else that was moving, and now I have been thoroughly de-cluttering and cleaning like it was Spring.  But with the holidays right around the corner, I can't think of a more appropriate time to be nesting--and no, I'm not pregnant.

Cleaning with a shadow (ahem, Greta) has its challenges.  Unloading/Loading the dishwasher is especially challenging.  As soon as I open it, she scurries over and is standing up holding a pot like, "Where does this one go?"  Hopefully the extra time I take now to let her "help" me will translate to her wanting to do dishes her whole life.  She follows me around all day.  Always right at my ankles.  She follows me from room to room and when she knows I'll be in a room for a while, she might stray a little from my feet and explore whatever non-toy she can get her hands on.  I have already surrendered my old cell phone and laptop.  What are we gonna get this girl for Christmas?  As challenging as it can be at times, I have a pretty cute shadow.
Also, officially brainstorming our Christmas card.
This morning we woke up to <----this and now I find myself wondering if I can teach her to shovel?

  1. I can't wait to come see you guys. Snow already?! It's 70 degrees in Pittsburgh today. When can my niece come spend a week with me? :)

  2. EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!I hope to never see snow again unless I am on vacation. And then, I would like to enjoy it with a cup of hot cocoa and a blanket next to a fire.

#2 it is 88 degrees today. SO humid. ahhh apparently we will be having "cooler" weather next week. I don't believe them!!!!

#3 Greta girl, you are growing like a weed and I want you to STOP. STOP it NOOOOOW! Stay like a baby forever. But, wait, start walking so your Mommy understands why I keep pulling my hair out chasing after your BFF miss Brinley. Sooo there you have it.

#4 are we in the "sending christmas card" category now since we have a child?? Ahhh I haaaaate growing up. Can we send e-cards instead????

  3. You had that much snow? Amazing - are you sure you live in Pleasant Grove - not Idaho? We haven't seen any here yet - a few little pellets of sleet yesterday. It's really beautiful. Love the cute pics of Greta.

My Storage Hack for Organizing Christmas Decorations

Every year when I pack up the decorations after Christmas, I collect all of the garlands together in one box, I get all the candlesticks together in another box, and all my nativity sets go into their own box. We label the boxes "garlands," "candles," "nativity sets,"...which seems great until you remember that you have […]

Cranberry-Glazed Ham

What do you make for Christmas dinner? Sometimes we'll do a prime rib or a roast turkey, but this year, I'm going all out with a Christmas ham that just looks festive. For this recipe, I made a cranberry-orange glaze with some warm winter spices that takes this ham to the next level. Oh and […]

Product Test: Portable Phone Chargers

Raise your hand if you panic when your phone's low battery notification turns on? (Just me??) There's nothing worse when I'm out on a fun holiday outing taking video memories of my family, and I see that red light. Or I'm traveling and stuck in the airport on a layover...it gives me anxiety! I've tried […]
