Our guest room is finished! We’re excited to show you a bunch of photos today and I’ve linked all the sources at the very bottom of the post for you, too. This was a pretty simple, straightforward makeover with just paint and some new furnishings and accessories mixed in with a few things we already had. We needed to finish before our families arrived for the holiday and we were thrilled we got all the main elements in place before our guests arrived and put the finishing touches (I finally found the perfect curtains!) in place just last week.
You might remember this room used be Greta’s old room (the before from when we moved in is below) until we finished the bunk room in the next room over last fall, which used to be the guest room. Essentially, the rooms have now officially swapped and all is well in the house again.
The bed frame was a steal, which allowed a little extra funds to go toward some good, textural bedding–but even that was on sale.
Texture on texture is a big trend that I’m loving right now, and the nubby coverlet reminded me so much of the one my grandma used to have on her bed. I paired it with the softest flannel duvet cover (My sister who stayed with us asked me where I got it because she wanted one for her bed at home!–that’s just what you want to hear as a host, right?).
Opposite the bed, we hung a large 36″ round mirror (that I wouldn’t mind hanging in a few other places around the house, stunning), a luggage rack, and a few decorative pieces like those faux antlers that make the room feel more lived in.
When we gave a sneak peek of the guest room a few weeks ago, we had a few questions about a boxspring because this bed frame does call for one. I’ve never understood why boxsprings are so large and especially in our home, where we have standard 8 ft ceilings, super tall beds just take up too much visual space. So, I was pleasantly surprised to find a boxspring that was just 4-5 inches and upholstered nicely at a local mattress store (I linked one similar in the sources at the bottom of the post). You can see the charcoal color peeking out of the frame in the photo below.
The very last element we added to the room were these light heather gray curtains. I have been on the hunt for good gray curtains that weren’t so solid but had a little bit of movement and texture to them. I’m so happy with these! They are lined and thick and come in multiple sizes–I ordered the 96″ length…naturally. ;)
Maybe it’s because Chris and I both come from large families, or that we live in a pretty remote part of the country that when you come to town, you probably need a place to stay–but we seem to always be happily welcoming people into our home. And it feels so good to have a place for them to hopefully feel comfortable with us.

Know!
Please tell me where you got your sconces in guest room.
Rejuvenation…They’re linked at the bottom of the post.
What Black Iron bed did you get on Wayfair? When I go under the link, it pulls multiple images up. Thank you
They keep changing the links and names on me! Search “black iron bed” and it should pop up on Wayfair
Would you mind sharing the name of the bed on Wayfair? The link is taking me to a page with several options. Is it the Matheney Platform Bed or the Cavailon Panel Bed or something else? Thank you!
It’s this one here.
Thank you so much for the quick reply! Not to be a :taco: but FYI the link still goes to a page with 8,605 beds. The Matheney is the first metal bed that comes up, but there are several others.
