This week we worked on painting our laundry cabinet, cleaning up the entry (the office/entry reconfiguration is 99% done!) and moved a few pieces of furniture around and placed a couple things that were ordered back in November. You can see the full list of things we'll be working on before moving right here. While sharing, we got a lot of questions about why we would keep working on projects when we're moving? You don't need to do this much! Your house is going to sell without doing this! Is this just for content?
We aren't closing on our new house until May and we aren't moving until June (and it's still March!), so don't check out of this house just yet! There are a few things that we want to finish up here because it's just not in my nature to turn something I've invested so much in (time, energy, love and money) to someone else in an unfinished state, you know? The truth is this house is unfinished and there are things that will remain unfinished, but I want to keep making it the best it can be every day for as long as we live here.
I think the content angle is important to address, too. Because yes! A huge part of our job is working on our home and sharing that process. But we had a huge brainstorming session this week and came up with over 100 ideas that don't require projects on our house that will serve us well during the transition time after our house sells and before we move into our new home.
We will be privately selling this house in April, but will absolutely do a final video tour before we move (and maybe a big yard sale too!), but until then, there's a few more projects left on our list and after that, I'm going to keep pouring love into where we live for however long we get to live here.

Projects
The new owners will appreciate finished projects and it'll give you peace too. My husband and I bought a house in which the previous owners just stopped mid-project. At the time, we didn't think we minded because we're handy people, but its turned out to be mildly annoying. Specifically, they had ripped out all the trim and only replaced two-thirds of it, some of it got primed and some didn't. None got painted. So now we're stuck trying to match the trim work they started. For crown molding, we ended up just putting up something fast and cheap for now because the ceilings need to be replaced (its old cardboard tile) and we don't want to commit to that big of a project with a baby in the house, but not having anything looked awful with the transition from cardboard tile to drywall.
PLEASE let us know when the yard sell is! My family is in Idaho Falls and will want to be a part of it.
I don't know why, but the last image made the impending move feel bittersweet. I think because after seeing the house transformed, and Chris in his happy place, all of the sudden it really feels like "home." And I know home is your people, but the picture captured the physicality of it. A moment in time. But I know you guys will love Raleigh! Excited to follow along.

I want to move away in a few years and I need to start putting the stuff that I want to do down on paper. Get it out of my brain and make an action plan. Maybe then I can enjoy some of it before I move. haha
I do a heavy eye roll when followers ask if bloggers/influencers/content creators do things just for content. Which they then consume for free. It would be super weird if someone sent me an email and asked me if I was working just to work. Um, yes. It's my job. So weird.

Here are a couple of content/project ideas that hopefully overlaps with yours: 1) A Spring cottage garden. Would love to see the porch/front yard garden you had originally planned. 2) A review of best moving companies based on move size (large, medium, small), plus moving tips. Whatever you decide to do, I'm here for it!

Was looking for a new pair of sneakers, thanks for the round up! Question on the front entry, did you consider not doing the closet in the office but leaving it open as a coat closet on the entry side, since it looked like deciding to move and finishing up that project overlapped?
We did but we had already started before we made the decision to move. Now it can be counted as a bedroom, which is a big plus!
Hi! This is unrelated to the post topic, but seeing all the runners in that first picture made me think of this. How do you keep your runners in place? I've tried various rug pads and they seem to slide everywhere, especially with a dog and two young kids.
