The challenge? To make a non-dairy — but delicious — green take on the iconic shake that everyone loves this time of year. We all know it’s not hard to make a green smoothie. Add some spinach or kale, and bingo — you’ve gone green.
But I wanted this shake to be a little more fun. A little richer, while still satisfying all of the food restrictions in our house. That’s what makes holidays special, right? Food memories are core memories.

Well, this dairy-free shamrock shake recipe knocked it out of the park. It’s tasty enough for the girls to have as a special treat, but balanced enough to feel like a nutritional powerhouse for Jules and me.
For the base of my healthy green smoothie, I use vanilla flax milk, blended with spinach and fresh mint leaves. And in order for my kids to even touch it, there can’t be a single green chunk left – so blend it really well. It’s all mixed with frozen avocado, frozen banana, and of course, some almond-based vanilla ice cream for a delicious remake of a beloved classic that is no longer an option for some in our family.
