We decked the halls (okay, just the front of our house) really early this year.  Back in July, Home Depot contacted me and asked us to participate in their Holiday Style Challenge this year.  They sent us a room full of mystery boxes containing more Christmas stuff then we knew what to do with and the assignment to decorate the front door of our home.  It arrived in September at a low-low for me physically–I wasn’t even able to get out of bed or open my eyes due to my hyperemesis.  But somehow, over the course of a few weeks, we got that entry decorated by the deadline–with minimal weird looks from our brand new neighbors.  (We know how to break in a neighborhood.) It was a Christmas miracle!  It truly lifted my spirits the whole time. You can check out all of the details of our “inside out” holiday theme right here–including that runner so many of you asked me about.

Have you started decorating yet?  We slid these decorations into the garage to pull out as soon as Thanksgiving is a wrap.  But, I’ll admit–I am getting antsy.

  1. We’re not decorating for Christmas this year, at least that’s the plan. It’s our first Christmas without my husband’s kids so we’re going away. In order to get him to agree, I had to compromise that we wouldn’t do anything Christmas-y at our house. I’m going to live vicariously through blogs like yours!
