Faye hasn’t slept in her bedroom for months. When we replaced the windows and drywall and added the closet in our bedroom, Chris and I slept in Faye’s room, and Faye slept in Greta’s room. Then, we replaced the window in Faye’s room and restructured the turret and she slept in Greta’s room again. Our six-year-old is probably the most patient human I know. Every night, as we tucked her in, she asked about her room and when she’d be able to sleep in her “princess bed.” Wait… what was that? What would make it a “princess” bed?
So, recently when her walls were finally insulated and her new window was in, and everything was patched, we went to work and came up with a plan!
Four Poster Bed
Wide Stripe Sham
Rani Cotton Patchwork Euro Sham
Cuddle & Kind Doll
Narrow Stripe Fitted Sheet
Lace Velvet Flat Sheet
Duvet Insert
Duvet Cover
Narrow Stripe Pillowcases
Dot Cotton Blanket
We knew we had to make her bed special — that was her dream. We found this 4 poster bed that reminded me of something Anna from Frozen would sleep in, put it together and layered on all the sweet bedding from The Company Store we could while she was at school one day.
I love that The Company Store is a heritage brand: They have so many beautiful mix-and-match pieces that layer well and last forever.
The layers, patterns, and palette in the bedding are a great jump-off point and really inspiring us with the rest of the room. I actually chose the Rani Cotton Patchwork Euro Shams first. The vintage florals feel cottage-y and sweet (and princess like), and the warm colors feel feminine and not too “little girl.” This is bedding we know could grow with Faye — and honestly, layer onto any bed in our home.
The Lace Velvet Flannel Flat Sheet is velvety soft and I love the scalloped lace border folded over their Legends Hotel Supima Cotton Wrinkle-Free Sateen Duvet Cover in white.
We went with the Narrow Strip Company Cotton Yarn-Dyed Percale Fitted Sheet and matching Pillowcases.
The OP Dot Cotton Blanket we folded at the bottom of the bed, brings a great graphic neutral and textural fringe that feels fun — I can’t get enough of it.
Clearly this room still needs work, but we’re going to let the bedding be the design anchor that helps us to choose paint colors and other finishes for this room. Maybe a putty pink pulled from the sheets or golden yellow? Or something like a warm blue contrast trim to coordinate with the back of the shams.
We’re excited to see where this takes us and our little Faye Faye.

I have recently discovered you. Thank you for sharing links to products and more importantly budget friendly stuff. On Studio McGee nothing is affordable unless you are rich.
Thank you
whimsical/tent stripes on the ceiling with a scalloped border painted around the border (where crown would be)!
Hmm I like the bed but the bedding is very plain and not very ‘princessy’ or even just fun or whimsical or pretty IMO.
Can I just say, I love the process updates! It’s amazing to see the beautiful and the messy all together in one space, especially knowing that another update will appear in the future.
I also thought the wall treatment was intentional. Ha ha. That’s just funny. Like a bedroom in an old palace. Maybe poor Cinderella’s room?
