Although we have done five house tours since moving in just over two years ago, we have never done an exterior one. And, yes, I am regretting it. Although we haven't done a ton (pulled out some plants, got rid of the dog kennel, and got a new front door), plants are always growing (or dying) and it would have been cool to see how things looked 2 years ago. So before we start really tearing into our exterior to-dos, here is an exterior house tour to capture how things look now.
You could use that chain link fence as a ready made trellis for growing food or flowers. I would suggest use some of it to grow Purple Podded Pole Bean, and or Red-Seeded Asparagus Bean. Both produce high yield bean pods with either a colorful bean or flower that produces the bean. That mixed in with climbing roses will add color and beauty to your backyard. I personally purchase my seed from the site below both are heirloom variety and every year you can replant from the seed you get from your harvest.

Oooo! Great picks. Thanks, Nick.
You could do some rejuvenation pruning on those lilacs if you have patience :) Remove a third of the branches every late spring/early summer for the next three years. The plant will put up new shoots from the base - those take three years to produce flowers. Eventually all of the old growth will be gone and they will be at a manageable size. Lilacs bloom on old wood, so prune them right after they bloom every year and you will still get flowers next year. If you prune them too late, you don't get flowers the next year! Your veggie beds look great - love the top trim!
Lindsay, I am so glad you commented and told me because I was ready to just go out there and limb it up now. Thanks so much!
So much potential! Great space :-) I'm so glad you guys have Charley inside as part of the fam. Makes me so sad when dogs are outside tied up or caged all the time.
Ditto! Why even have a dog?
YOUR YARD IS HUGE!
What's funny, is that I didn't say to Brinley when she came in that I was watching Julia's video, she heard you say Chris and she goes, "Chris!? That's Julia's house!" so funny huh?
Your front yard looks fab! Can't wait to see the pergola and garden to transform. Those raised beds look amazing.
Awww. So sweet Brinley.
