A couple weeks ago, when our new refrigerator arrived, there were few less-than-ideal details that came along with its arrival (read all about the door dents and water spills here).  One thing, that continued to haunt days after the delivery were all the fingerprints that arrived with our new appliance.  The truth is: stainless steel attracts fingerprints.  So far, it is the only downside about our new fridge--we are LOVING that appliance btw!  And thanks to all of your recommendations, we found a product that takes care of those fingerprints.
My good friend, Amy, told me about them and I had to try it for myself after unsuccessful attempts at removing fingerprints with white vinegar and also oil.  We were definitely looking for a greener product and this is about as green as it gets.  Get this:  all you need is water and this cloth.  The fingerprints came off.  At first I was a little discouraged because I wasn't seeing much of a difference, but I quickly realized if I went with the grain of the steel, they lifted right off.  Woot.

I noticed on the little piece of paper that arrived with the cloth, it talked about using it on a variety of surfaces, including windows, mirrors, granite, wood--all with just water.  So, after my fridge, I cleaned our entryway mirror and a few windows and our television.  I have to admit, I am puzzled.  There were no streaks left behind and I was just using water!  I loved how I didn't have any chemical smells lingering and I could move from surface to surface without carrying anything but a cloth.  Then, just rinse and reuse. Very nice.
Of course, I wouldn't expect you to just take my word for it (step aside Levar Burton).  The great folks at Gleen are tossing in a dozen of these cloths for our readers to try, too.  12 winners!

The Nitty Gritty--

  1. Giddy for GLEEN! Smudges on the fridge make me nuts even with our fridge at work. Bring on the 'uber awesome' green cloth for this cleanin' machine :)

  2. Giddy for gleen!

I am a it OCD with all my cleaning, but finger prints on the fridge or drips on the stove drive me mad!

  3. Giddy for GLEEN

I am really anal about having vacuumed floors. I really don't like crumbs everywhere.

  4. Giddy for GLEEN.
I love having a clean floor; IE: no clothes scattered all over, trash picked up, etc. ; ) I feel like the room feels bigger when the floor is clear of stuff. ;)
By the way, I love your blog!! : )

  5. I'd be giddy for Gleen if I won these! I love cleaning supplies that don't have harsh chemical odors and actually work! I hate having a messy kitchen and dishes in the sink!

  6. Giddy for Gleen!! I have the same problem with my stainless steel appliances...nothing else I've tried seems to work and I'd love to do something green about it!

  7. I am Giddy for GLEEN I don't like finger prints on my fridge or sink. I try to keep these surfaces clean at all times. Also keep book shelves neat and tidy.

  8. Giddy for Gleen! Thanks to Gleen for providing freebies and to the Marcums for providing the giveaway. I am totally uptight about folding towels. In fact, my husband makes fun of me because I won't let him do it. :) Also, I don't love the little smudges that show up on the walls at about kid height. Wonder if those cloths would work there?

  9. oooh i'm giddy for gleen. the thing i'm anal about is fingerprints on my laptop and the nasty dust that settles on the inside of car windows that NEVER comes off. it irks me just thinking about it.

  10. I would be Giddy for GLEEN in my kitchen on my stainless steel! We just had our kitchen renovated, and I never realized how difficult it was to keep the appliances clean! I'm also a stickler for a less-than-sparkling sink in the bathroom!

  11. Giddy for Gleen! I hate a dirty kitchen - counters, stove, sink, etc. etc. And I love anything that helps me keep my kitchen nice and clean.

  12. Giddy for Gleen here! I'm anal about spots on the stainless dishwasher from my pups' noses. Drives me batty. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity :)

  13. Giddy for GLEEN:) I am picky about fingerprints on windows! I also hate bathroom grime...it really grosses me out! annejk112233(at)yahoo(dot)com

  14. "Giddy for GLEEN" - Clean is a good thing!! I am always cleaning out the bathroom sinks - dirty sinks make me cuckoo!!

  15. Giddy for GLEEN! Like you, I hate fingerprints all over my fridge, and I hate dirty smudges on my floors. With three little ones, it's hard to keep those things clean.

  16. I am giddy for clean, I hate messy clothing closets, dirty plates on the counter, and shoes not in there proper spot!

  17. I am also "Giddy for Gleen"! I can't stand dirty bathrooms even though I hate cleaning them! I also dislike clutter - it drives me crazy.

  18. Giddy for GLEEN is something I could totally be! But the picture of the stainless steel appliances remind me of my sister who has struggled with fingerprints on her refrigerator and stove also! Myself - I can't stand to go a day (or sometimes an hour) without sanitizing my kitchen counters/stovetop/faucets/doorhandles, etc. I am a definite germaphobe and love to keep my spray bottle of cleanser handy with a cloth to wipe down the most commonly touched surfaces.

  19. Giddy for Gleen! I can't stand a dirty bathroom.Especially the sink and counter area must be clean all the time!!

  20. I am "Giddy for GLEEN" and I must straighten crooked picture frames. I straightened 2 in our health and fitness center this morning!

  21. I'm definitely Giddy for Gleen! I'm impressed with your before & after fridge. I would definitely use this on my door to the outside porch. Some how there are little hand prints and doggie nose smudges that keep magically appearing mere minutes, errr, okay, seconds, after I finish cleaning it! Looks like this Gleen Green Cleaning Cloth will make cleaning it often much simpler :) I love the part where you said there is no chemical smells lingering. Don't want little lungs breathing that in.

  22. I'm certainly Giddy for Gleen! I could have the messiest house ever, but fingerprints on walls ans light switches drive me NUTTY!

  23. I am Giddy for Green and would love one of these to keep my glasses clean. Totally anal about anything on my lenses.

  24. You bet I'm giddy for Gleen! I can't stand fingerprints, especially on the microwave.

  25. Look at how all your site visiors are Giddy for GLEEN. I stay on top of the kitchen - the counters are continually in use and probably should be wiped down whenever someone wanders thru. Love to try out the gleen cloth

  26. I am giddy for green!!! My biggest pet peeve IS fingerprints on our fridge and tv, drives me nuts! lol Thanks for the giveaway!!!

  27. Giddy for GLEEN! I am soooo anal when I first get my phone and people remove my little sticky sheet screen and keyboard cover, I try to leave them on as long as possible because I had to smudge a perfect screen!

  28. Giddy for GLEEN! This is gross, but I can't stand it when my brothers use the toilet and they are in there for awhile and they leave sweat beads on the toilet seat! They don't wipe it off or anything! It is SO disgusting!
    annaisabanana08[at]yahoo[dot]com

  29. No wonder you are Giddy for Gleen! The before and after pictures are incredible. I can't stand dirty highchairs, cluttered fridges, dirty stovetops, and socks left by the door. Or dusty picture frames, door frames, and book shelves. This could REALLY come in handy.

My Storage Hack for Organizing Christmas Decorations

Every year when I pack up the decorations after Christmas, I collect all of the garlands together in one box, I get all the candlesticks together in another box, and all my nativity sets go into their own box. We label the boxes "garlands," "candles," "nativity sets,"...which seems great until you remember that you have […]
