I’m getting ready to live “il dolce far niente” or the sweetness of doing nothing this summer as we take my parents and the girls to Italy for an intergenerational trip to celebrate two big birthdays in our family (including my 40th)! We’ll be visiting Rome, Florence, and some smaller towns…I just can’t wait to take you along for the ride.

The sun-washed villas with hidden treasures, the dramatic landscape dotted with cypress trees, the art and tapestries that sweep you into another era…I’m ready for ALL of it. I can’t wait to be swept off my feet, and I already know I’m going to want to bring some of that charm into our home somehow.

You know me, that means I’m making a mood board! This aesthetic guide is inspired by the Italian Countryside and features pieces I’d be thrilled to collect. My inspiration was a home that feels like a sun-warmed villa in Tuscany—where the doors are open, the linens are soft, and everyone feels like family. All of these pieces are from Wayfair. They’re big on “every style, every budget,” so I knew I’d find some good Italian-inspired pieces. Wayfair is not just about furniture—it’s about creating spaces that make people linger, feel seen, and stay awhile.

Mood board featuring a vintage-style tapestry, aged furniture, cypress tree, and other home decor inspired by the Italian Countryside
  1. Tapestry $250 Tapestries are having a moment, and it’s easy to see why. They add a layer of old-world elegance and rich texture to any space. The colors on this one… perfetto!
  2. Outdoor Lantern Pendant $369 Talk about a statement-maker! This outdoor pendant feels like something that belongs hanging over a cobblestone alley in Montepulciano. Mentally I’m designing an entire outdoor space around this fixture.
  3. Upholstered Stool $999 Italian design is all about being upscale with an effortless, casual feel. This stool strikes that balance perfectly, and I’d swoon seeing a set of them lined up at a kitchen island.
  4. Arched Floor Mirror $285 The perfect way to add some architectural interest to your space. This arched beauty makes every room feel bigger, brighter, and just a little more European. Plus, my jaw is on the floor at that price!
  5. Blue Italian Dinner Plate (set of 4) $58 We have a soft spot for blue-and-white anything—but this plate? It’s the one that started our collection and my favorite thing to pull out for dinner parties.
  6. Faux Cypress Topiary $116 You don’t need a villa courtyard to enjoy the elegance of topiaries. These faux cypress trees are our secret for adding height and structure to indoor spaces—no trimming required.
  7. Marble Vase Duo $81 Colored marble is quintessentially Italian, and these vases add that modern touch that every traditional space needs.
  8. Bust Statue $389 Classic, unexpected, and a little bit dramatic. I’d add mine to bookshelves styled with vintage books for extra interest.
  9. Rattan Basket $149 For bringing in fresh veggies from the garden for homemade pizza or just to add some warmth and texture to any surface.
  10. Trestle Dining Table $2,199 A trestle table just feels so European – it’s a little bit rustic while still feeling elevated. This one is so similar to the one in our study and is a great price for a solid wood table.
  11. Italian Leather Lounge Chair $898 This chair feels like the perfect modern update to a traditional leather chair. The roll arms have my heart!
  12. Velvet Fringe Storage Bench $309 The velvet + fringe combo gives it that ‘eccentric Italian grandmother’s parlor’ energy in the best way possible. Extra storage + seating never looked better.
  13. Porcelain Floor Tile $12 I imagine this is what you’d find in the kitchen of an Italian villa… it’s classic and the right amount of rustic so that it feels like it’s been there for generations. Comes in two colors!
  14. Stone Fountain $1,038 If you want your backyard to feel like an Italian courtyard then you need a fountain. It provides instant ambiance and it doesn’t get prettier than this one.

Other Italian-inspired finds from Wayfair:

  • Wood Bench $3,345 The lines on this are just wow… it would make an instant difference to an entryway.
  • Metal Patio Dining Set $1,350 The blue linen cushions are what really sold me on this. It’s everything you need to be dining al fresco all summer long.
  • Candle Sconce (set of 2) $69 I love a candle sconce, especially in a dining room. I use flameless taper candles in mine, so it’s worry and hassle-free!
  • Slipcovered Sofa $2,399 This sofa has that lived-in, sun-faded linen look we love. It’s the perfect blend of relaxed and refined, and it’s a great anchor piece for any room.
  • Tiered Wall Shelf $194 The curved details and turned wood spindles make this piece feel vintage and special. I’d add it to a kitchen and fill it with pretty jars of spices and my everyday dishes.
  • Wood Pedestals (set of 2) $55 I like to keep some risers like this on hand for dinner parties—it’s nice to add different heights for visual appeal and easy access. The little round feet on these make them feel extra special!
  • Terracotta Vase $126 I’m a firm believer that everyone needs a statement vase—and if it looks amazing with or without stems, it’ll earn a permanent spot in your decor. The handles and antique finish on this one make it an instant add to cart.
  • Wicker Outdoor Chair $246 These would look incredible around a dining table but would also work as an outdoor accent chair for smaller spaces. The rattan looks so high-end!
  • Outdoor String Lights $59 We added string lights to our backyard a few years ago, and it has made every night feel magical. These feel like something you’d find strung outside an Italian cafe on a summer night.
  • Outdoor Pizza Oven $64 Wood-fired pizza straight from your own backyard pizza oven? And did I mention it’s under $100? That’s amore.
  • Brass Kitchen Rail $129 No Italian-inspired kitchen feels complete without a brass rail lined with well-loved copper pots. It’s the perfect touch of warmth and character.
  • Lidded Copper Pot $529 The combination of brass and copper makes me swoon. It’s guaranteed to be the showpiece of any kitchen!
  • Outdoor Wall Sconce $187 Similar in shape to the sconces outside the mudroom, this sconce reminds me of something you’d spot on a centuries-old stone villa. It instantly adds that timeless, lived-in charm to any outdoor space.
  • Footed Marble Bowl $72 Fill it up with lemons or apricots, and it just gives Italian summer. Marble in a classic shape like this will always have a spot on my counter.
  • 2-Person Patio Dining Set $399 Just the right size for a smaller space or garden nook, the lines of the chairs and natural wood tone make this a classic you’ll have for years to come.
  • Stone Top Coffee Table $3,520 The stone top! The twisted details! The feet! A truly incredible piece that would add a dose of vintage Italian charm to any room.
