The fourth and newest member of our family.  We just got him tonight and I can’t stop smiling.  He’s a stylish and sophisticated 2003 Acura MDX.  Low mileage–high style.  Love him already!  We traded in Chris’s longtime girlfriend, Brittany, (SEE YA!) for $3,200.  We couldn’t believe the guy was actually gonna give us that for the ’97 Toyota Camry (complete with cracked windshield, dead battery, broken side-view mirror and 176,101 miles).  Honestly, that was the selling point for me: getting that much for a trade-in.  I hate spending money.  I have avoided and/or ignored all conversations we have had about getting a new car because I couldn’t stomach forking out monthly payments again.  (Our cars were both paid off–as if it wasn’t obvious that a 1997 and  a 2002 car would be paid off by 2010.)  I thought for sure that I would feel sick all night after signing the papers.  Can you believe I don’t…at all!  It’s the first vehicle Chris and I purchased together–we didn’t ask our parents, or get a co-signer on a loan.  I feel rather grown-up.  Harrison, hope you stay awhile.

Figure 1:  Chris with “Brittany.”  I just named his car Brittany today as I was taking this picture.  Chris dated a few Brittanys in the past and I felt this car represented that–the past.  He got the car when he got home from his mission, so it was hard to part with it.  But he has moved on to better things–in all aspects, right?

Figure 2:  Case in point…MUCH better things.
Figure 3:  We love you, Harrison!  Chris has already gone outside to “check on it.”  Yep, it’s still out there.   I guess it is still sinking in.

  1. Yay! Very nice. And VERY grown-up. :) And great choice. A friend of mine has had three of those and said she’ll probably never own anything else. Congrats.

  2. Harrison is a boy….and he is technically my car to drive around town and our family car to take on trips. Chris needed a son.

  3. Look at you guys!!!!!!!!!!! Sooo wait, is Harrison a girl car? If Harrison is a boy car, then…Chris?? hahahaha just kidding.

Congrats! New cars are the BEST!!

My dad got a new Honda Fit a few weeks ago and he couldn’t stop kissing and hugging it. Going from a 14 mile per gallon gas hog to a small 35+ mile plus was awesome!
