THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. CONGRATS TO OUR WINNER, FELICITY!
Do you have any special Thanksgiving traditions? Besides turkey and saying what you’re grateful for? In our silly house of 5 girls growing up, after every Thanksgiving dinner, we’d have a talent show. I have no idea why. We’re not particularly talented in normal talent show things, like playing an instrument. I remember years where my sister, Victoria, would recite a monologue (she was maybe 11), or we’d put on a ballet–none of us are even close to ballerinas! My oldest sister, Krissy, did a fan dance to The Sage of Lamberene – by Sam Cardon and Kurt Bestor (haha!!) It was humorous and silly and memorable and fun. The tradition has stuck and we still sneakily incorporate the idea into even the prettiest of table scapes to surprise unsuspecting guests with a show after dinner. Here’s our Thanksgiving table this year!
I love the wood tones, mixed with grays, creams, golds, blue and off-whites with the striking black flatware (all from Arhaus!) framing each plate. It feels like our home in a place setting.
Arhaus is a great source for unique, high quality, well designed home furniture and decor. It’s designed to work as hard as it plays. Many pieces include functional elements like hidden table leaves, washable slipcovers, and construction made to last for generations. You better believe those candlesticks will be passed down.Â
Although there are definitely fancier pieces, we strive for our home to feel casual and approachable and our dinner parties are no different. For name cards, we’re using a fresh, ripe pear, with a name banner taped around the stem.
I wrote everyone’s name with a metallic marker and each tag has a different matching autumn emblem with someone else at the table. So there are two leaves, two pumpkins, two turkeys and two feathers. Not only is it festive and pretty, but this is a great way to partner people up for an activity, game, cleaning assignment, or yes, talent show after dinner!
