In late July, Chris’s brother’s family is coming to stay with us for a couple days so getting a guest room together has been on our list in the next couple weeks. But! We got some exciting news yesterday that my sister, Victoria, from Pittsburgh will be coming next Saturday (!!!) to stay with us (my other sister Andi is coming from Mexico, too!–she’ll be staying with my parents) so project guest room has moved to the top of the list. We have less than two weeks to whip this room into shape:
This is one of three bedrooms downstairs. Greta’s room is also down here and then there’s this 3rd bedroom:
That mess-of-a-room is smaller than the other two on this level (Greta’s being the largest) and it was serving as our guest room before we redid the floors and all hell broke loose. Then it became the catch-all room. In our last home we only had room for a full-sized bed in the guest room and that bed ended up in this room (can you see it under there?).  Since the other spare room (the blue one at the top of this post) is larger, we decided it would make a better guest room because it could fit a queen-sized bed–which is a nicer size for guests–especially couples.
All that to say, we can’t wait to welcome our family into our home and give them a nice place to sleep. Really, they would be happy to sleep on the couch–so easy-going. But since this is us, we’re actually excited to work this room into shape. Here’s a little peek at the direction we’re thinking:
Throw / Light / Bed / Linens / Pillow
Kind of like a cozy-pair-of-jeans direction. Comfortable. Calming. Casual. We have some ambitious diy projects on our list, but with the time crunch–it will be interesting to see how much we get done. Although, if you know us, you know we love a deadline. ;) We picked up a queen sized bed we found on Craigslist today and it needs work, but first–paint on the walls!
We’ll have that for you before the week is up! Anyone else anticipating guests soon?

Wow, talk about a tight turnaround time! I’m sure you guys can do it. I love the mood board and can’t wait to see how the room turns out. Nothing like guests to really get things organized and decorated!
