Back in
October, I revamped a lamp and that is what started this whole redecorating thing--at least that is what I can remember. After I learned that I can cover a shade and create a new, fresh looking fixture, I have been eyeing all of the lamps in my home. Especially the two in our bedroom. They are matching his and hers on either side of our bed.

Lamps before |
Obvy the above picture was taken
before I dressed up those mirrors, but it shows the twin lamps in all of their matchy-matchy, direct from the superstore glory. Don't get me wrong, I have loved these lamps, especially that they serve as nightstands, too. (If you are eyeing them...
Target will provide.) But, I am a little eclectic and I like to mix things up. Which is exactly what I did.

Lamps after |
Doesn't it look so "old world" now? I am loving all of the pattern going on. All of the patterns have round, organic edges so they work together well. They also are working wonders with the rug that's now in our bedroom (which has also inspired a new cooler color scheme).

The lighting isn't great in this picture, so you can't see the patterned shades. Just admire the rug. |
We moved it from our dining room, which was a good move--don't ya think? So for the lamp tutorial, you can check out the original Revamp a Lamp post, but I did take a few pictures a long the way with a few pointers just for you!
With a patterned fabric (especially one featuring straight lines), you are definitely going to want to iron it.
But don't be afraid on fabric with lines because you are afraid you are going to make a mess of them. It actually made it so easy to cut straight! Built-in guide--gotta love it!
I also used the lines to line up the shade making sure they all came out vertical looking and not diagonal.
And that's that. Really simple. I did both in less than 30 minutes.
Now I am dreaming of throw pillows. For good reason, too. I am working with these:

Blah, brown and boring |
I love the throws my friend, Leslie made
here. And I have been inspired by a few others, too. I definitely plan on recycling the pillows I have and maybe even some of the
materials I have on hand. But for now---my parents are on their way, pumpkin cheesecake just came out of the oven and I have turkey on the brain.
okay, I said "run" MEANT rug.
*tired mommy moment*
STOPPPPPPPPPPP being so domestic. You are killing me. I am falling WAY behind in my projects. I just look at my list and think, I'd rather nap or watch greys anatomy.
BLAH. New years resolution is definitely going to help with making our home more...colorful and cheery!
LOVE the run. Ryan doesn't think rugs should go over carpet. Do you know how much that BUGS me that he doesn't like it?? Hello.....we ONLY have carpet in our house (except bathroom and kitchen). I need SOME color on the ground. JEESH!
