I'm always moving things around in our home. And even when something looks really good, after some time we learn it doesn't always work the best. Our entry is the perfect example of this. I loved our entry that we put together last year, but as soon as we got our new front door installed (that's much larger), it was painfully obvious how off-centered the whole entry felt. The door is closer to the right wall than the left and with the big credenza on the right, too, it just felt lopsided with the door open or closed.
So a couple months ago, we ordered this gigantic mirror from arhaus. It's huge (96" tall!) and fills the space perfectly.
It can be mounted on the wall or lean on the floor (and it comes with anti-tip hardware, too). It got delivered just a few days ago, so I'm still needing to bring in a few more pieces to really make it shine again. Something green. A large planter. I think a round table on the other side of the entry would really balance the space out even more (we'd put the bench in our new mudroom when the time comes). It opened up the entry so much!
Coat Rack, Mirror, Sconces, Stair Sconces, Chandelier
But the new mirror caused a little ripple effect around the house--forcing the other furniture elsewhere which is always kind of fun, right?. The credenza moved into the music room (love it in there!)
Rug, Credenza, Table Lamp, Record Player
And the console that we had in the music room actually moved behind the navy sofa in the living room! I'm always looking for ways to add more layers into a room and there was quite a large walkway behind the blue sofa that was never used.
Rug, Sofa, Chairs, Coffee Table, Tray, Floor Lamp, Side Table, Table Lamp, Chest
Placing the sofa table behind there, allowed for a casual place to stack books and a pretty candle, of course. It added a nice amount of depth to the room. Anytime you can layer furnishings, I think it makes a room look more cozy and adds character.
The other mirror ended up in Greta's room, so every piece is accounted for! It was just a big game of musical furniture. Which, coincidentally is my favorite game.
When I was on the hunt for large mirrors, it was so difficult going through and looking for every dimension, so I rounded up a few favorites below that include the dimensions so you can easily see if it will work for your space!

You listed the Rejuvenation mirror (#14) at $1199 but according to the website it’s $1599. I’ve been looking at this
mirror for months and am curious was it just on sale when you put together this list? If so, I will definitely wait for it to go on sale again. Thank you for this wonderful roundup!
Must have been! I see it go for 20% off often!
PS: how high are your ceilings? They look 20 feet or taller in the pictures.
In the entry, they are about that! Everywhere else, 9 ft. In the living room, about 13'
You are amazing. Your style is so creative and inspiring! Keep me in mind whenever you inevitably launch your show on Netflix, Hulu or whatever! :)
Hi Julia,
Wishing a happy new year to you and your family and hoping you feel better after your flare up on the weekend. I love the credenza in the music room. It looks beautiful with the wall color. I am considering the same layout as yours in my own living room, I currently have everything set up the same way minus your oatmeal Arhaus sofa. I am not sure wether it will be impractical to walk behind the couch in order to get to different rooms and the distance to the wall in my living room would be similar to how far yours is from the staircase wall it seems. Does this bother you in your daily life, to have a slightly tighter walkway in that area? I know this has been your favorite layout so far so I am interested in your opinion on this. Thanks!
Doesn't bother us in the least! We tried a lot of different layouts and this Feels super cozy and practical.
Awesome thank you!
The new/old front door with the molding around it is so dreamy!!
Do you have a link for the red runner in the hall?
It's vintage!
Musical furniture is so fun! We have a small apartment in NYC so it ends up being musical lighting, accent tables or plants for us. I love it when things work in multiple places in your home though - it's confirmation that you've got pieces that are truly your style!
The photography is so beautiful! Thank you for linking all the sources. Happy shopping to meeee!
Julia, this looks stunning! I love the idea of furniture musical chairs. It gives the home a fresh, new look. Love your IG and blog. So inspiring!
What can you tell us about the interesting black art above the console in the music room?
It is a vintage screen!
Julia, Happy New Year! I've always thought a round table in your entry would work beautifully, so excited for that...as well as the decorative molding and new doors you have planned for the space. I really appreciate how you explain why you make changes from both a design and a functional perspective. Balance is such a key element to design. With that in mind, do you also plan to switch out the sconces beside the new mirror...perhaps with a lantern that adds more width and length?
BTW, every time I see that beautiful gold rug I love it more. At first, it was my least favorite in your collection, because I thought it didn't have enough variation in the color. Now, it's one of my favorites. I've been secretly hoping it would end up in your bathroom!
Beautiful! Love your sweater in the last photo. Do you have a link or brand?
Hi Eliza! It's from right here.
Musical furniture! I love it. Speaking of music, what is on top of the credenza in the music room?? It looks vintage maybe? I don't remember seeing it before!
It is so fun to see your living room evolve. YES to layers.
Happy New Year!
It is a vintage screen I got from an antique store!
That door turned out so stunning. Great work!
I don't think I had seen the new, old door from this direction. I love the molding around it. Lovely!
I love seeing how ever evolving your home is. I’m trying to find a place for a standing mirror in my home now! Thank you for listing the size and price in the links for the mirrors! It’s so helpful as a reader to have the information right there.
What is the source for the console table that moved behind the couch? I didn’t see a link anywhere. I love the credenza in the music room! It looks so much richer in there against the dark wall.
It's linked under the last photo of it. It's from Six Penny!
