When I was ordering wallpaper samples for Faye’s room, I made sure to include a few options that I could consider for Polly’s ceiling. Wallpaper on the ceiling isn’t super common, and it’s not everybody’s cup-of-tea, but we had already installed the vertical paneling in her room and I really wanted to give the ceiling a splash of something special.
I wanted something simple and warm with maybe a metallic and when I saw Farrow & Ball’s Brockhampton Star (in the color BP 515), I could envision it in her room so clearly. It has a beautiful cream background with gold metallic stamped on it. I threw a little mood board together to see how it would work with the other piece and it paired perfectly with the fabric I had pulled for her curtains.

Nailing down that wallpaper, really launched another huge decision into action. Paint color. If you’ve been following along, you know that we painted Polly’s room a deep plum purple color over the holidays and this was such an easy decision to make, based on yellow and purple being complimentary colors. They simply bring out the best in each other.
The ceiling had a pretty heavy texture, and it needed to be prepped before installation. Prepping for wallpaper can take some time but it’s a necessary step to getting your wallpaper to stay properly. A quick skim coating, and primer was all it needed, and before we knew it our wallpaper guy was installing.
My favorite thing about wallpaper is that it is such an immediate transformation to a space--no matter what plane it's on! I personally prefer a smaller, repeated pattern on a ceiling and I love how this paper warms up the whole space.
Here's a few other wallpapered ceilings I have saved (and a round-up of my favorite ceiling wallpapers below, too!)
Isn't it fun to see a little pattern when looking up? Here's a few more favorite papers to get the look:

Hello. I am desperately looking for a wall paneling like you did in the purple bedroom. It’s absolutely fabulous and I cannot seem to find anywhere. What was the product that you used?
We used this primed shiplap siding (you can read more about the whole room here.)
Do you have any thoughts on if this would work with lower ceilings like 8-10ft?
These ceilings are 9ft! I think it absolutely works!
I'm thinking of adding a floral chinnoisserie to the ceiling in my bedroom- I LOVE a wallpapered ceiling and Polly's room is looking so good! I can't wait to see the curtains!
LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! The moodiness of the plum is absolutely gorgeous! The spell checker in me has to point out the purple and yellow complement each other. :-)
The moved light is perfection in here. Beautiful!
Does Polly love it? I really like how the trim and the wall are all the same color! So pretty!
She LOVES it!
I love it!
I'm about to put a Chasing Paper wallpaper on one wall of my laundry room. I discovered their website through you. This will be my first time wallpapering, and I'm excited and nervous to try it!
Beautiful wallpaper! Are you planning to add crown molding like in the inspiration pics?
I'm not opposed to it!
Looks so good! Curious - are you going to add any crown molding to her ceiling? And would it be the same color?
If we do, I think it will be the plum color.
I love how you talk about color theory in many of your posts. It is a passion of mine as well. Your fresh yet timeless take on pairing colors is a feast for the eyes over and over.
Dumb question. I notice the outlets are painted. do you just roll/spray them with you pain the rest of the room? I'd be worried about getting paint inside the outlet....
You have to use a really great primer and it works best when sprayed. Other than that--you're good!
Can you answer this question for us? When you paint each room these lovely rich colors.... and yet all the hallways are different colors... WHAT DO YOU DO FOR THE DOOR JAMBS? I am so confused about this, but want to go more bold in the kids' rooms but not sure how it'll meet in the hallways.
Oh please, please answer this! I'm unsure, as well, about how this works. Or even a post or IG story that shows how it's done.
