Last week we shared a sneak of Greta's room in our weekly Love Letter and it's really about time it made a blog appearance! Greta’s room is probably the most under-reported room in our house. Back in November we painted it (Romance by Sherwin Williams) and I shared it on Instagram, but never on the blog. I just found an unpublished draft of the post! I'm not sure how that ever happened but let's play catch up today!
Often times, I see something and it reminds me of Greta and I get it for her room. Without ever having a mood board or plan for it, it's been slowly getting little updates in the background. And you know? It's kind of fun to add pieces in when something pops up! Here's what Greta's room looked like before moving in.
Rug | Bed | Comforter | Pillows | Nightstands | Horse Art
It's kind of funny because Greta's room isn't even on our 2022 project list, but did we just unintentionally do a phase 1 reno?? I think we might have and it's so darling.
Raise your hand if you recognize where these curtains came from? These were custom made for Polly's Modern Cottage room, and I'm just absolutely in love with how they contrast with the pink walls (although I'm thinking I might want a few more panels). We hung these shortly after the fresh coat of paint, and I knew I wanted to bring in some other elements to tie them in. Cue the new nightstands!
Just last week we carried in these two gorgeous nightstands that I’m in love with. I stumbled upon the more expensive version of these nightstands and I fell in love with them so much that I hunted for a dupe. I took the “in stock and ready to ship” as a sign to purchase immediately! They came so fast and they’re exactly what her room needed. They’re the best height and a beautiful blue color that ties in so well with her curtains. Once I had the nightstands in place, I purchased this table lamp set in black and I'm going to swap out the shades!
Peep the glow in the dark galaxy stickers on the ceiling because you're only a kid once :). Of course the arrival of the nightstands spurred a rug change–something soft to let the curtains and bolder nightstands shine through. The Jules Natural Ocean rug is really the supportive role and I love how it plays with the peachy pink walls too. Here's another before angle!
Dresser | Art | Table Lamp | Tapered Shade
We actually purchased this dresser from McGee and Co for our bedroom when we moved in! By the time it arrived, it was clear that Greta needed it more in her room plus I think it really softens up the pink walls. We set it right next to her closet for easy dressing and access.
Still to come will be some blackout roller shades for her windows since the sunlight really pours in through her windows. Swapping out the boob light in here, which I know will drastically change everything! The biggest addition will be a desk area to the left of her bed. I'm envisioning lots of art ledges and pin up boards for our little artist who creates for hours every day. For now, I'm so happy with this feminine, preteen bedroom we've created for it. It feels very playful, yet mature and Greta seems so happy to have this space for herself.
The room looks beautiful!
My tween would hate it, of course. Her room was just painted a color similar to your old color (SW Bracing Blue) and she loves it. She wants it nice and dark and she didn't want the ceilings white (I told her too bad, I don't want to paint them again for a very long time).
You have to know your tween/teen's taste. We are also looking into a blackout option as it gets the full west sun.
I love your style so much!! It's like everything you touch instantly looks amazing and so so well designed!!
Your kitchen, media room and dining are drop dead gorgeous!! This room , however is a little bit of a throwback to my 70's granny's house. Nothing wrong with that, but it looks a little too dated to me. I love the dresser side, and I think it fits a teenage girl perfectly, but the bed with the old pictures looks like a bed and breakfast from the 70's. So not your style... and I think a teenage girl needs something more modern and bright. I would consider replacing the curtains, pillows and horse art. Just a thought.
In love with this room. I would love to see more on the blackout shades when you get to that part of the project. I need to add some to my kids’ rooms but I’m feeling intimidated to do it diy with the measuring, hanging, etc.
I have two rooms with boob lights and I'd love to know what you end up putting in this room to see if it may work for either of my bedrooms!
Do you mind sharing wall paint color? It’s such a good pink 😊.
SW Romance
I looove the curtains in here! And the whole room in general. That dresser is perfect for the room, too…and all the ways you tied in black. Beautiful!
Gorgeous room. I love the gentle pink paint colour. Can you keep us updated with which blackout blind you choose?
That nightstand lamp is different than the one tagged. Could you share where you got it from? Thanks
This lamp is vintage
The curtains look like they were made for the space! How perfect! Such a pretty tween room that will grow with her.
What size is the sisters print? Also any chance of a curtain dupe 🤞?
This is the largest print size from Juniper. I'll be on the lookout for curtain dupe!
