Cleanish Barbeque Spice Rub | Chris Cooks

I have always enjoyed making healthy, good quality food for our family. And after Jules began having health issues (she recently sent a health update in our Love Letter) I have been able to experiment even more with making cleaner alternatives of our family's favorite foods that wouldn't cause her a flare up. And this cleanER version of a classic barbeque rub I crafted gives you even more flavor with far less refined sugar.

So, what makes this recipe cleanER and Hashimoto friendly? Well, I use coconut sugar which has a lower glycemic index, and is less refined than white or brown sugar. This substitute is especially great for people who are sensitive to refined sugars. And a little pro tip, if you like your barbeque sauce to have some spice, you can also add 2-3 tbsp of cayenne pepper for that extra kick.

While this recipe is "ok" on beef, it really shines with pork, chicken, fish, and shrimp. And I promise, once you try it, you won't be able to go back to store bought barbeque. It really is that good.

An amazing, all-purpose BBQ rub made with coconut sugar instead of other sweeteners. Amazing on pork of all kinds, fish, chicken - whatever you wanna put in the smoker or toss on the grill.

Ingredients

• 1 1/2 cups coconut sugar

• 1 cup Himalayan pink salt fine ground

• 1/2 cup sweet smoked paprika

• 1/3 cup granulated garlic

• 1/4 cup black pepper fine ground

• 2 tbsp onion powder

• 2 tbsp allspice powder

• 2 tbsp dry mustard powder

• 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
