5 Christmas Decor Trends I'm Excited About

November 29, 2023

As I've been decorating my own home for Christmas, I've been keeping an eye on some emerging Christmas decor trends. It's always exciting to see how trends evolve, especially during the holidays. Here are five trends that have caught my eye—perfect for adding a fresh touch to your holiday decor this year.

1. A Potted Christmas Tree

Flocked Tree | Pot | Snowflake Ornaments | Candle Ornaments | Mirror | Garland | Merry Christmas Garland | Blue Ribbon | Candlesticks | Flameless Candles | Boucle Chairs | Rug | Velvet Couch

This is a trend I'm particularly excited about. Instead of the traditional tree skirt or collar, consider placing your Christmas tree in a pot or basket. It's practical and stylish and a great way to cheat a few extra inches if you've got the height to spare.

2. Tinsel Tree

Remember the shimmering tinsel from our childhood Christmas trees? Well, it's making a comeback! Last year, we decorated the tree in tinsel, adding a nostalgic, whimsical touch and bringing back those old-school vibes. It's a playful way to add some sparkle and can be a fun twist for those who love a bit of retro charm.

3. Ribbon-Tied Christmas Tree

Simplicity is key with this trend. Decorating your tree with only ribbon-tied bows creates a charming, understated elegance. Choose ribbons that complement your home's color scheme for a cohesive look. This trend is perfect for those who appreciate a minimalist aesthetic or want to try something different from the traditional baubles and lights.

4. Solid Jewel-Toned Wrapping Paper

Move over traditional red and green! Jewel tones are in, bringing a rich, luxurious feel to your Christmas gifts. Solid jewel-toned wrapping paper paired with monochromatic ribbons is a lovely way to make your presents stand out under the tree.

5. Kitschy Christmas

For those who love their decor to be fun and whimsical, kitschy Christmas decor is the way to go. Think unique ornaments, vintage finds, and playful designs.

These are just a few trends that are making waves this Christmas season. Remember, the best part about decorating for the holidays is making it your own. Whether you're drawn to one of these trends or prefer to stick with your tried-and-true favorites, the most important thing is to create a space that you and your loved ones will enjoy. Happy decorating!

  1. For the potted Christmas tree, I thought you were going to mention the real tree and root ball that you can plant in the yard when you are done. We've gotten a small one and then planted it after Christmas and now waiting for it to get large enough for a second life as a Christmas tree.

Also, orange garlands are a trend I've been seeing and love. I also love the bows in the tree trend.

  2. Loving all of your trends! Going to try tinsel this year (something I haven’t done since I was a child!). And side note, your candles burning under your kitchen shelf kinda freaks me out, but I love the look! Merry Christmas, Julia!
