Mood Boards

A Little Treat in my Inbox

January 17, 2013
I have been doing mood boards for clients for just under two years now and at the end of every mood board I say, "I'd love to see how the space comes together.  Feel free to send pics!"  And, wouldn't you know it, someone finally did!!  I actually went to high school with Jessica, and it was so fun helping her and her new husband, Pierce, put together their master bedroom.
Here are the before photos:

Jess had a budget of around $500-$700 and wanted it to feel cozy and romantic.  So I whipped up (I say that casually--these things I invest a lot of time in and I usually end up wanting to redecorate after I'm done) this mood board for the newlyweds:

Here's how it breaks down (the abridged version):

1. (Benjamin Moore's Richmond Gray)
2. A black-brown, versatile, affordable bed.
3. Crisp, white bedding

11. Mirror
Pierce and Jess did a great job pulling the room together!! Here's what she had to say,

So I FINALLY took pics of the finished room, mainly because I finally hung the lamps yesterday! They sat in boxes forever. Sorry the pics are a little grainy, I took them on my phone so the quality is kinda ehh. Don't mind the cat chillin' in the pics, he's a camera ham.

I can't thank you enough for your design with our room! We had a blast painting and redecorating, and now love coming up to this space. Also, I am now and forever a Benny Moore pain fan, that stuff is incredible, I feel like we could have put one coat up and been done!

Thanks a million! We couldn't have done this without your design! :) Happy New Year!

Check it out:

It's true.  Their cat loves the camera. And the camera loves him.
Great job putting your own touch into the space.  I especially love the art you chose for behind the television, "and if the music is good, you dance." Love that.  The music must be good often while I am cleaning the kitchen. I mean...

  1. Haha, I always ask clients to send me photos of their pet portraits with the pets, and every once in a great while... they do! And it makes my whole day.

    Also, Steelers fans, yay!

(And I love that dresser from the inspiration photo!)

My Easy & Delicious Thanksgiving Menu

This year for Thanksgiving, I'm all about quick prep (we're talking as few as 5 minutes) and big flavor payoff. My Thanksgiving menu will be a mix of tried-and-true classics from the Chris Cooks archives, plus some new recipes that I created this fall. But what this Thanksgiving dinner won't be is stuffy, overly formal, […]

Target Gifts Under $30 That Will *Definitely* Impress

This post is sponsored by Target It's the gift-givingest time of the year — and I have something to confess. Every year, I forget someone. It's true: In the holiday hustle, I have forgotten my sister's new partner or my neighbor or a cousin (who, in my defense, was not supposed to be in town). […]
