It's been a few weeks since we launched our wallpaper collection with Lowe's and we've been loving seeing how you're using them in your homes. The moody green trim in this bedroom makeover... my heart!
I've also been having so much fun playing around with making mood boards for imaginary rooms and I just had to see what our Emerson Crimson wallpaper would look like in a dining room. I really wanted to play up the unexpected combination of the dark crimson red with the jade green so I paired the wallpaper with some painted trim work on the lower part of the wall. The combination feels really traditional while still being fresh which is always the goal. Next, I just needed to layer in furnishings and decor that would add to the moody, modern, traditional vibe I was going for.
I love for the base of my room to be anchored with traditional pieces. Not only do these set the tone of the room but typically for my larger, more expensive furnishings I lean on things that are timeless and aren't going to go out of style anytime soon. Like the dining table here... the rich wood tone, oval shape and turned legs make it a classic piece that you'll keep forever. Paired with a moody wallpaper and a checker-board style rug, we've got a great traditional base to start layering on top of.
With the base elements leaning so traditional I wanted to add some modern pieces to mix it up and create some visual interest. The more minimal lines of the console table and upholstered dining chair create contrast with the wallpaper and dining table. And that chandelier feels vintage but somehow modern at the same time... I just can't get enough.
A dining room to me is all about ambiance. You want to create this romantic feeling that invites your guests to relax and enjoy their meal like they're out at a nice restaurant. Taper candles (dripless is best!) in brass candle holders on the table creates an instant mood and I also love to add an antiqued mirror with a lamp to help bounce some soft light around in the space.
My trick for setting a beautiful table is also to mix modern and traditional elements. I love the combination of these toile salad plates stacked on the modern black rimmed ones. Add some glassware, napkins, and flatware and you're all set to entertain.
What is the paint color on the mood board?
Red + green makes me think of the Home Alone house, the coziest holiday house done the right way!
What color paint did you choose for this amazing dining room? It is swoon worthy!!
It's a mockup! But we did base the color on Chelsea's paint color she used in the Instagram post above, which is Pewter Green by Sherwin Williams.
