I have been waiting to write this post for awhile now.  It’s definitely one of those things we didn’t  want to get too excited about until everything was official and in place.  One of our many goals this year, was to expand our family with another little one.  Well, it’s June (it’s June!?) and we have decided to become foster parents.
Taken when Greta was just a couple weeks old.

We welcomed a beaaauuttiiifffullll baby girl into our home yesterday.  Her name is Samick, but I keep calling her Samwise.  Oh yeah, and she’s a white baby grand piano.  EEEeeee!!

Our neighbor’s (the saints we had over for dinner a few weeks back) parents are going on a mission for our church for a few years and needed someone to take care of their baby grand while they are away.  We laughed when they mentioned it and jokingly (but not really) said, “Oh yeah, we’ll be HAPPY to take that off your hands.”  And then the next day, they came over and asked if we were serious.  And then I realized they were serious.  And the planning began.    They took care of everything from the delivery to tuning and we almost feel guilty to have such a beautiful instrument in our home free of charge.

We placed it in that large, completely bare space in our family room and it fit perfectly.  And white?  Wow, we scored.

It has definitely classed-up the whole space and I suddenly feel the need to vacuum the family room every day and get luxe curtains hung asap just to be worthy of such a gift.  Do I play?  No.  But Chris does.  Of course Chris does.  He also plays the djembe and guitar and cooks and fixes stuff and works likes a maniac and loves me.  He’s dreamy.  Chris is also camera shy.  I did manage to snap a picture of him playing when he got home from work last night and even sneaked a short video (I promised him only 30 seconds and I got 45..woot).

Overall, we’re grinning.  We feel blessed.  And I can’t wait for my private piano lessons.

  1. You had me excited because we have dealt with infertility for four years and are almost done with everything in order to become foster parents, with hopes of adopting though the system.

  2. HAAHAHAAAAA

so good. Fooled everyone, except me :-) thanks for including me in your secret for today. my heart would have stopped and I would have probably peed my pants.

You guys are the best. that piano is to DIE FOR. The speakers on my parents comp don’t work (did that sound hillbilly?) so when I get Ry’s laptop, I’ll watch the vid! go Chris!

  3. We ARE jokesters, aren’t we? Prego pranks are just too easy. Hopefully we won’t be teasing forever, we would love another little Greta running around soon!

  4. Mom, rest assured that, the next time we’re pregnant, you and dad will definitely know before we post it on blogger. :)
