Fall Around Our House 2024

October 9, 2024

Some years, I go very spooky, gothic, dramatic Halloween, but this year, you may notice that I didn’t really decorate for Halloween at all. I stuck more with fall-themed decor as opposed to Halloween, because I could feel my energy running thin. Just a reminder: You don't have to do it all! Decorating for fall will last longer! I can have this up through November until we decorate for Christmas. (Although we did get one very BIG Halloween decoration that we surprised the girls with!!)

Otherwise, I tried to keep it minimal. I don’t even need a whole room to change, I just want to warm up our favorite spaces with jewel tones (scroll down to see Greta's new velvet curtains!), branchy stems, and flickering candlelight. Anything that sets the vibe to "let's stay in."

Here's to doing what's manageable—and enjoyable!—for you and your family this season.

Fall on the Front Stoop

I didn’t buy much of anything new this year as far as fall decor (I'm a big believer in shopping your own house when you can!). But I did pick up some deep red mums from my local nursery for the front porch to go with our pumpkins, and wow. Are they stunners! Can I get a lip shade in this color, please?

Fall in the Living Room

A mantle full of tapered candles isn't revolutionary, but maybe that's the point. You can grab all of your mismatched candlesticks and add a slew of dripless or flameless candles to create what feels like magic hour every night for very little fuss or effort. It's downright romantic. I can't wait to entertain more in this room this fall.

Fall in the Dining Room

Our new dining room chairs...I cannot say enough about these. They've truly changed how our family enjoys dinner and game nights. We're lingering longer, and it's been so good for the soul. When we're not dining, I like these larger-than-life oak leaves that feel almost sculptural in form.

Fall in the Kitchen

Pears, artichokes, and apples can be the simplest and most beautiful fall kitchen decor. Our copper collection really comes alive this season. And I styled the shelves with just some witchy rattan hats and a set of whimsical ghost mugs I picked up (they were a steal). Seasonal drinkware is such a fun addition to the kitchen shelves—I just absolutely love them. Less can be more!

Fall in the Study

Give me all the chocolate brown tones, and I'll be a happy girl. The study didn't need much to share in the autumn theme, but the burgundy leaves and oversized vase feel right at home. And this copper pumpkin candle is just the delicate cherry on top.

Fall in the Entry

After years of having a (catch-all) bench in the entryway, I finally decided to swap it out for a new dresser I'd been eyeing for years. My only regret is not doing this sooner! A new marbled umbrella stand and some subtle fall decor make our entry so welcoming now—and it deters us from making this our drop zone!

Fall in the Bonus Room

Last weekend, Chris and I moved his great-grandmother's piano from the landing to the bonus room. It's been a two-fold blessing, in that now the girls have more space to do their projects at a new table in the landing, but also the piano is more tucked away for better (read: more enjoyable for everyone throughout the house) acoustics. I added some fall stems and a gothic black crow to the piano top as well as some spooky Frame TV art and a plush pumpkin on the couch.

Fall in Greta's Room

Our new burgundy velvet curtains are the perfect mix of vibrant and luxe for our color-loving teen girl. There will be even more to reveal about some finishing touches for this room VERY soon, so stay tuned!
