Art

Frost 2.0

July 23, 2012
Last August, I did a huge wordy painting of Robert Frost's The Path Not Taken.  It is one of my favorite poems of all time and we loved having each drippy word hanging in our house, but I eventually sold the painting when we started the family room renovation.
Fast forward almost a year (!) and Robert Frost's poem has made another appearance in my artwork.  I have been commissioned to do all the artwork for a dental office opening in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  When figuring out exactly what all 18 pieces of art are going to look like and how they will fit together--we (the dentist, who is actually an old friend of mine, and I) decided to mix in some clean and contemporary quotes and words paired with large, modern paintings. In the operatories, I'll script out words like brush your teeth, floss, smile big, etc., but in the lobby and hallway--inspirational quotes were ordered up and I like to deliver.  Hence Frost 2.0--this time just the last line of the poem on a large (30x40) canvas with lots of clean, white space to keep it professional mixed with some splattering to keep it contemporary.
Basically, I want one for our house.

I have to ship out all 18 paintings by Wednesday, so stay tuned for a look at a lot more in the next day or so.

P.s.  Wasn't that the best season finale of the Bachelorette ever?

  1. If there was ever a poet I'm meant to meet, it's Robert Frost. Those are some very powerful words. And seeing them blown up like that has a HUGE impact.

And let's just talk about how I haven't seen the finale yet. I know who she chooses, but I haven't seen it with my own two eyes!

  2. That poem seriously always brings a tears to my eyes. It is just so beautiful! I love the ginormous painting you did and I am glad it is someone else's home to enjoy! This painting is also so great and I would love that in my house someday!

Bach was so good. I seriously felt myself tearing up a couple of times, but had to hold back because who knows, the may break up! I don't want to be THAAAT emotionally involved until there is an actual wedding :-)

Ry and I want to stalk them in Charlotte though....and maybe crash their Charleston wedding :-)

  3. Ohhhh I forgot about the Finale, f worddddd!! I cant believe :( I watched True Blood and I forgot about that.

Need to watch during lunch time today.

Canadian Cowboy: Not Your Average Western Look

I loved seeing fresh takes on Western wear. It goes to show there's room for fashion in every aesthetic. Recently I saw this funny interview with Brett Goldstein of Ted Lasso fame. He said he recently went to Texas for the first time (he's English if you're unaware), put on a cowboy hat and immediately […]

My Tell-All Review of Composite Cutting Boards

This post is not sponsored and all opinions are my own. Nothing matches a beautiful wooden cutting board (our Boos board lives on my counter—it's a piece of art and sturdy as an ox). The drawback with wooden cutting boards is they can't be cleaned in the dishwasher. For anyone cutting meat, seafood, or anything […]

How to Perfectly Cook a Steak in Any Kitchen

The best way to make a steak is indoors. That's not a concession! It's done in all of the best steakhouses. They don't tend to use a grill, even though that is where most of us start when it comes to cooking a steak. This time of year? I'd rather be indoors than freezing outside, […]
