Good-Looking Board Games You’ll Want to Leave Out

We’re sharing the best “coffee table games”—beautiful, display-worthy board games and classic sets that look so good they double as intentional decor. Find stylish games for every budget.

Elegant living room with a plush white sofa, decorative pillows, and a cozy patterned rug, featuring classic wall art, table lamps, and a central wooden coffee table adorned with books, a chess set, and floral accents.

You all know we’re big on family board games in our house. We host game night as often as we can with the extended family. And honestly? It’s always just way too much fun. Our playroom armoire and closet holds a whole stack of popular games, and I love when someone introduces us to a new favorite!

But let’s be real: there are the ridiculous, loud, laugh-until-you-cry party games (which we love!), and then there are the few, special pieces I call “coffee table games” or even bookshelf games. These are the games that are genuinely display-worthy—they look so good, they double as intentional decor when they’re not being used.

It might be something simple, like an elegant classic chess set. (We just picked up a stunning one this year, and the girls are already signing up for chess club (not an exaggeration!) Or, it might be something more luxurious, like an immersive game that looks truly handcrafted by artisans or just a pretty version of a classic game that can sit nicely on your bookshelves.

Either way, I’m all about finding those pieces that elevate the everyday. It’s so nice to have a beautiful game or two that you don’t have to rush to put away. I rounded up some of my current favorites across every budget—from high-end investment pieces to simple, stylish versions, so there’s something for everyone!
