March 2012 Chalkboard Drawing

March 7, 2012
Is it really the 7th already?  I admit, I was a bit late getting this month's drawing done and to the printers, but here it is (!):

Why a cow butcher chart?  I specifically remember watching one episode of Good Eats when Alton Brown was going over the different cuts of meat that come from a cow and I remember thinking, "That would make for some great kitchen art."  While researching for this drawing, Chris had a good time telling me why this chart is indeed so useful--it gives a visual of why some cuts of meat are more tender than others and why some are better for certain dishes.

As for me, I like that it looks good with the dishes:

Even though it looks pretty ridiculous hanging in the laundry room:

Looking for some great kitchen art yourself?  Or maybe you are just a cow lover--A limited edition of 25 prints are for sale right now in our Etsy shop.

Get yours here.  Also...my apologies to vegetarians.  And PETA. :)

  1. I love it! You are so taIented! am going to keep my fingers crossed that you will do the same type of drawing with a pig. My husband would love that! I have been reading your blog for about a year and I haven't commented, but I have to tell you I look forward to your posts everyday!

  2. You know what, I'm a vegetarian (just don't like the taste-no political reasons) but I still like this. It's so useful. And I'm impressed you made it vertically. :)

  3. This is so different but SO AWESOME! Um, we loooove Alton. He is just so dang smart. Always makes me laugh how fast he talks and all the crazy stuff he says. This would look SO awesome in any kitchen.

Canadian Cowboy: Not Your Average Western Look

I loved seeing fresh takes on Western wear. It goes to show there's room for fashion in every aesthetic. Recently I saw this funny interview with Brett Goldstein of Ted Lasso fame. He said he recently went to Texas for the first time (he's English if you're unaware), put on a cowboy hat and immediately […]

My Tell-All Review of Composite Cutting Boards

This post is not sponsored and all opinions are my own. Nothing matches a beautiful wooden cutting board (our Boos board lives on my counter—it's a piece of art and sturdy as an ox). The drawback with wooden cutting boards is they can't be cleaned in the dishwasher. For anyone cutting meat, seafood, or anything […]

How to Perfectly Cook a Steak in Any Kitchen

The best way to make a steak is indoors. That's not a concession! It's done in all of the best steakhouses. They don't tend to use a grill, even though that is where most of us start when it comes to cooking a steak. This time of year? I'd rather be indoors than freezing outside, […]
