Reading this back, I realized this might sound like a sponsored post, so to be clear--IT'S NOT! My sister, Andi, turned me onto Pura in our last house. I bought two devices to prep our home to sell, because it's true what they say, smells can leave a lasting impression. Honestly, I wasn't immediately sold. I set one in our entry and our living room and I wanted to love them, but I'm not sure I got great scents. Also, I could have had the intensity too low in the spacious entry and living room of our last house because I couldn't really smell them.
Recently, I wanted to give them a second try because although I love setting the mood with a candle (it will always be a part of my evening ritual), it's nice not have to think about it! And coming home to a good-smelling house was very appealing to me. And one of my favorite house compliments is, "Wow! It smells amazing in here!" If you haven't heard of it before, Pura is a kind of smart fragrance diffuser with interchangeable fragrances all controllable from an app. My favorite features are that each device holds two different fragrances, and you can set each on their own schedule, AND you get to select the fragrance intensity! It's pretty easy to set up, and then it's kind of a set and forget situation (which is my favorite kind). Except don't forget about it too much because then you'll forget to switch the scents on your subscription and get the same ones for 3 months straight...guilty.
The only tricky thing about the whole system is picking what scents you want. They have hundreds of options and you'll probably recognize a lot of your favorite candle scents available as Pura fragrances. They range from about $8-$20 and last me at least a month. But honestly, buying home fragrances online is tough. You're reading a lot of scent descriptions and you never really know what you're getting. Soooo, I decided to buy a bunch of scents and share my favorites to help you out! Here are a few I'm loving for Spring:
Sunday Morning - This one smells like a refined juicy pear (remember that body splash from the 90's?) and freshly picked flowers. I don't typically love floral scents, but this is gardenia and jasmine combo is so elevated.
Fig Tree - This came highly recommended by a couple members of our team who've been testing our Pura scents for a while now. They're not wrong! It's like a sophisticated orchard in spring. It smells incredible, and it's even better in the diffuser.
Palo Santo - I'm telling you, this is grassy and earthy and fresh and ridiculously good.
Afternoon Retreat - This one smells exactly like it sounds. How did they find the notes for an afternoon retreat?! Brings to mind sunny days, walks in the park, and an invigorating warm breeze.
Go Fig-ure - Fig is always a go to for me. This one smells like a Ralph Lauren grandpa model in a navy peacoat. Intrigue and comfort. There's no other way to describe it.
Elsa - Don't knock it till you've tried it. It's such a refreshing clean scent and I can picture it going perfectly in a laundry room, bathroom, or kitchen.
Havana Vanilla - I am not someone who likes Capri Volcano (way to sweet and strong for me), so I was hesitant. It's so good though and it's not a vanilla scent that's in your face. It's more of a refined vanilla with hints of tobacco, bergamot (my fav), and sandalwood.
Night Gardenia - Like I said, I'm not a floral gal, but this is not your grandmother's floral scented glade plugin. It's like an ultra chic nighttime garden walk. Ugh, I love it.
13-Relaxation - I love a masculine scent and this is very grounding and smooth, perfect for a family den or office space.
Del Mar - Okay don't at me but this is hot dad fragrance alert. Like just worked out and put on a musky cologne. It's so sexy and would make a great bedroom scent.
Dae Signature Citrus - Evolved from one of my favorite shampoos. It's citrus, it's sunshine, it's sandalwood, it's bliss.
Maui - It's not my favorite Brooklyn Candle scent but it's still good. Smells a little like great aftershave!
Verb - Really lemony, but less like the citrus and more like the peel! Would be so refreshing in a kitchen.
Santorini - This is one of my top two favorite candles of all time and the fragrance holds up. It's one of those scents that's good every time of year with a perfect balance of soothing and earthy scents.
Eden - This is another scent that gives hot dad vibes. I'm so into it.
Spanish Cedar - I would expect nothing less from Taft, it's so good. Perfect for a living room, office or study.
Right now I have five devices–one in the entry, living room, kitchen, bonus room, and the guest house (which I usually have set to "away"). I've got all my devices set on different timers, like I figured out that when I come home from the gym in the morning around 7am, the kitchen device greets me with a wave of welcoming fragrance. It's actually the best.
I will say, I wish Pura offered different color devices. The magnetic covers pop on and off, and I would love to be able to pop on a black cover, or a color that matches my walls. I just want it to be a bit more discrete. I'm also not giving up on candles! Something about lighting a match and the ambiance of the flame. These Pura scents are cheaper than most quality candles which is definitely a plus. I've also heard you can make returns really easily with just a button in the app.
I did narrow down my top 4 fragrances for you and I'm telling you, you can't go wrong with these!
My favorites: Afternoon Retreat, Fig Tree, Palo Santo, & Eden
Here's some favorites from the rest of our team, and the duplicates should be pretty telling.
Tristan's Favorite: Spanish Cedar
Brooke's Favorite: Afternoon Retreat
Missy's Favorite: Go Fig-ure
Becca's Favorite: Go Fig-ure
Andi's Favorite: Afternoon Retreat
Victoria's Favorite: Elsa
Jen's Favorite: Night Gardenia
What level do you have yours set to to last a month?

Just ordered Santorini. thanks
Thank you for the scent ideas! I love my Pura diffusers and have my favorites, but it’s fun to try new scents, as well!
I didn’t know they made people who don’t like Capri Volcano! 😉 We switch back and forth day to day between Capri Volcano and Nest Grapefruit (which I miraculously prefer to Volcano!) and it seems to prevent my nose from adjusting to the scents so I always notice and enjoy them. Love our Pura!
I love the lighting of candles also...absolute favorite is lilacs.
Do the differnt scents in the adjoining rooms play well together?
I am so excited to try this, I found a code for a free device when you buy two scents on a subscription! FREEDEVICEKF
Thank you so much for this! I have been wanting to try Pura but couldn't quite justify the full price not knowing if I'd like it. Used this code for a device with three CLJ recommended scents and can't wait to try it!
THANKS for this code!
Do you have a different scent in each room or the same scent throughout the house?
I have different scents in each room for the most part!
Thank you!! I just recently got a Pura and my first three scents were a major BUST! Fortunately, I was able to easily exchange them for new scents that are much better. I'll definitely try some of these out!
Oooh I can’t wait to try one in my living room! Seems like the perfect way to freshen up the house for spring! This would also make a great housewarming gift!
