Polly's wallpaper was installed over the last couple days and I'm so excited to share photos today, along with a few other favorites right now! I first fell for this paper just a couple months ago, and I knew it would be so perfect for her space. I shared a sneak peak of the wallpaper in Casual Friday a few weeks ago, but nothing can compare to a whole surround-wallpaper reveal.
Isn't this the wallpaper of every child's dreams? Just mine? Polly's favorite part are the unicorns (shh...they're actually horses, but I think I'm going to paint a gold horn on a few). This paper was installed at a half drop, so that the pattern feels more like a mural around the entire room instead of so repeated. But, every inch of this wallpaper is filled with playful illustrations, that I'll never get tired of looking at, and to me that's what makes it so timeless.
Almost everything else in her room came with us from our last home, with the exception of the lumbar pillow and new light fixture! I knew this crown light fixture would be perfect for her room the second I saw it online and now that it's up it's giving me major Where The Wild Things Are storybook vibes.
There's still more we want to do in this room, but the wonderful thing about a wallpaper with a lot of interest is it pulls double duty as art. I decided to keep all the trim, doors, and windows white, and eventually get some really beautiful custom roman shades in maybe a light blue with trim. We'd also love to add a dresser, little chair (I think we're finally ready to retire the rocker) and a rug...VERY VERY SOOOOON ;). I have a feeling that Polly's going to be falling asleep while watching these storybook characters come alive and that just warms my heart.

Hi Julia! This room is looking magical, I can’t wait to see what else you add to it. :) I would also love any tips you have for tween/teen girl rooms. My daughter is 13 and I just can’t get my head around what to do with her space. Help! xx
I'll be working on Greta's room in the coming months--she's 11 so stay tuned!
This room is what dreams are made of! I'm so glad your little girl loves it. And I learned something new: the half-drop technique. Although I don't quite understand how you know you want to do it. I'm going to check it out on YouTube.
So pretty and full of light. Love it. Would you kindly explain what a half drop is? I’m not sure I’ understand how it works. Thx
It's the wallpaper of MY dreams for sure (green, organic/trees, ties to my deep love of English literatures and children's lit) and I don't even DO wallpaper!! Seriously though. I had that William Morris green floral featured in my number one pinned inspo for my girls' shared room but our home has a modern California vibe that completely is at odds with cottagey things, plus I had no budget anyway, so regular old deep green paint on the bunk wall it was! In the right house, someday I will do a tree mural accent wall type paper for sure.
Magical! I’m in the area and would love to get the name and number of the person you used to hang wallpaper. Please let me know!
This is just the most charming gorgeous little girls room!! I love the cottage vibes the open shutters are giving. This might be the best room you’ve ever done!
The wallpaper and crown light fixture just threw me into Narnia. Now I must go read the books again!
Is there any benefit to go with traditional wallpaper over peel and stick? Assuming I'm planning on having a professional install it either way. Thanks!
Peel and stick doesn't stick very well to textured walls!
It’s like the unicorn tapestries in wallpaper form! I used your #17 choice in the half bath of our last house, and the family the bought the house told us they were taking it down because the husband hated it. I’m glad I’m not the only one who likes it. 😂
Such a magical room for a little girl! So glad you were able to get it. Yes, the lighting does remind you of 'Where the Wild Things Are'. So many memories to come in this room.
My guess is : #2,9,10, 14, 20 are all wallpapers you have used. #1,8,9, 12 are my faves. Now I want wallpaper in several rooms.
The white is so ethereal against the paper, absolutely love the monochrome look.
LOVE Polly's wallpaper!! So magical! For wallpapers you have used before: #2 Primary Bathroom W.C. - Idaho Rambler, #3 Polly's ceiling - Idaho Cottage, #9 Primary Bathroom W.C. - Idaho Cottage, #10 Entryway W.C. - NC Home, #20 Faye's room - Idaho Cottage. Did I miss any?
This wallpaper is like a dream. I loved it. :)
Can you choose to install at a half drop? Isn't the artwork just designed that way with a half drop? I don't think you can shift where the pattern meets, that's just how the art is.
Wallpapers are designed to hang on a half drop or not. I don't think you can choose (but I could be wrong!). It's a more complicated design on the designer's part and it makes it look so much more special
" this fixture throws a star shaped pattern of light on your ceiling"- how cool!
Absolutely dreamy! Polly's a lucky girl.
Your children's bedrooms just keep getting better - a tough task after the last house.
thank you so much!
So magical! I’m not a wallpaper enthusiast but THIS!!! I’d love to know what company you’ll use for custom Roman shades? I am ready to do the same in our newly renovated living room and kitchen.
I love this! And love that I learned about half drop, it’s something that has always bothered me about some wallpaper, that I didn’t want it to repeat so frequently, but that method is such a brilliant fix.
So magical! Love it!!
I LOBE IT! That light Is so cool. And I would be happy in there now. I even like the shutters in this room. ❤️
Looks so beautiful and magical! Can you explain what you meant by “half drop” to give it the mural effect and what’s the trick for lining up the pattern on the last piece of wallpaper installed?
Beautifully dreamy. Please let us know when those secret golden unicorns show up. -- Had to watch a YouTube video to mentally understand the wall paper half-drop. Learned something new. Ty.
Breath taking. I think you should paint gold horns on either 3 to represent your girls or 5 to represent your family to give it a truly extra special touch to something that is already so beautiful.
Oh Katie, I love this idea! And maybe don't tell Polly where you're putting them... it'll be a magical 'Where is Waldo' for her, and then such a special personal touch she can share with her friends someday when they come over to play!
It's the best wallpaper ever and I have a suggestion to add to the unicorn horns idea. It would be lovely to hire an artist to add some other tiny things. She/he could paint a few of Polly's favorite books with the rabbits reading, a favorite doll in a bed like hers, a pet if you have one, the rocking chair, favorite fruit......anything that would make her smile. There could also be a wrapped gift hidden in a tree and you could have an identical wrapped gift under the tree at Christmas. The possibilities for joy are endless! If I lived there I'd come and do it for you!!
More stunning than I could have imagined. You must be so proud! What a perfect little kid’s room.
Love this wallpaper so much! Polly must feel like she’s living in a fairytale. Can you explain a little more about installing the paper at a “half drop?” Thanks!
Can you explain what it means for wallpaper to be installed at a half drop? It looks beautiful!!
I'd like to know too.
Love this wallpaper in her room!
This is lovely!
Side note, I find it impossible to save your images/posts into Pinterest. If I do it within Feedly it crashes Feedly, if I use your pin button on the image it says no image available. It even crashes Pinterest if I try to take the address of your post directly in. I wasn’t sure if this was me or whether you’d blocked Pinterest?
Thanks
Oh no!! Definitely haven’t blocked Pinterest. Do you have a pin it button on your favs bar?? I’ll do some trouble shooting
Yes, I,m not able to post on Pinterest either. It said something about a url.
