We ordered some new furniture and decor for the living room, and I started rating each piece in my head on a scale of 1-10. Most pieces were in the 8 or 9. Our new swivel chairs? Easily 10/10. We could take out the sofas and put 10 of these chairs in the room, and everyone would carry on happily. As soon as I saw these, my search for swivel chairs ended immediately. The fringe! The durable velvet texture! The dreamiest slate blue color! They’re moody, modern, traditional in all the best ways. Our family just loves a swivel chair for conversation, and these couldn’t be more comfortable to boot.

The tricky thing about swivel chairs is that they typically lean very modern. I made it my personal mission to find some at every budget that would work with more traditional design. One deal-breaker for me is that I don’t want to see the hardware underneath. That just cheapens the whole look and you’d be surprised how often you see it on pricey chairs!
If you’re looking to add swivel chairs to your room, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite picks at a variety of price points. Hope this helps you find one (or two!) that will add that charming touch to your living space.

My pet peeve is swivel chairs that don’t “bounce back” to the right way when I stand up and leave. Drives me nuts…
Do you add a back pillow to your navy chairs? I have a similar green pair without cushions and wondering what size and shape you would use.
I’m going a little more simple with pillows these days, so I don’t have any on mine!
I absolutely love the elegance and texture the fringe adds to the swivel chair, it’s such a subtle yet striking detail. The navy and rust tones in the rug play beautifully against the slate blue fabric, creating such a rich and inviting palette. I was so happy to see the return of that gorgeous rug from Phase 1 of the living room, it evokes a beautiful mix of something old and something new. Thank you for continuing to share your home with us. Hoping we’ll get to enjoy a fall house tour this year!
