As we're settling more into our home, I've been noticing that some of the furniture we brought with us in the move is fitting pretty seamlessly in this home. I'm talking to you beautiful blue bonus room! Other furniture? not so much. Even still, it's been a fun thing to see how many pieces are being used over and over, and which pieces we end up swapping for something more fitting for this home. I think the pieces we buy, we buy because we love, and sometimes they can be shuffled around and work in different spaces! To me this is the magical part of what I get to do. I'm known for "shopping" my house because the things that I love the most I tend to grab over and over again. Sometimes love fades and sometimes it lasts a lifetime!
So many of our pieces have lived multiple lives in multiple rooms, in multiple homes. It's essentially "The Sisterhood of the Traveling [furnishings]." Used time and time again, I thought it would be fun to do a little "Who Wore it Best?" This is all in the spirit of having fun and realizing that there's no right or wrong answer! Our four chair music room was such a cozy vibe, contrary to the light-filled nook in our bedroom. Now they live in our living room!
Same tapestry, same house, different rooms! Do you love the contrast of colors in Polly's room or do you love it surrounded by white on white in the formal dining room?
We have four of these frames hanging in the dining room. And I just love the height they added above the fireplace in the living room!
We've sat in this glider thousands of times for thousands of hours with two of our babies. Do you prefer it in Polly's nursery or Polly's big girl room? (We initially bought it for Faye's room and it's currently in our guest house!)
Another piece featured in the same home but different rooms. I love it next to the blue sofa in the living room, but the black in the black basement family room is a mood! (It's currently in our living room here!)
How could the same rug look so good in two completely different rooms? It feels cool in the bright and open living room, and yet so warm in Greta's blush pink room?
This arched cabinet in our last kitchen was such a statement piece, and there's definitely a more dramatic tucked-away feel in the bonus room. It it now living the life it was meant to be in the living room?
To be honest I wasn't sure the leather chairs would work in the bonus room but now I'm obsessed! However, I love the warmth they added in our living room, too.
No furniture piece has known more homes than this leather ottoman! Do you prefer it in the closet or the living room? (It's currently in our bedroom!)
These cube Ottomans are hero pieces! I love that they add so much warmth to any space which is why they float around so much. Do you like them better in our current living room or our previous living room?
Do we love these custom curtains in the space they were designed for, or does Greta's room take the cake?
I've was having the trickiest time finding the best place for this mirror in our home, until I looked up and realized it could fit on top of a credenza in the study thanks to our 10ft ceilings! It was in our bedroom at one point, and also the entry hallway. It's hard to top the look in Faye's room though.
There's at least a hundred more of these we could do, honestly! Anything in your home always work just perfectly anywhere you put it?
I have a small red console table from my grandmother - she used it by her front door, currently it’s in my guest room. But lately I’ve been thinking of moving it somewhere else… I love the idea of shopping your home and repurposing things that you may end up loving more in a new space
I'm wondering if you ever order and receive something that isn't quite what you thought it would be. It seems you end up loving everything that you buy, but I've had the hardest time with this when ordering on line.
Returning the item is either too expensive or not allowed and then I end up stuck.
Would love your thoughts on this. Thanks!
I'm certainly not immune to buyer's remorse. It's also why I love Facebook Marketplace so much! The moment I realize it won't work, I turn around and sell to someone who will love it and let myself move on.
Nobody can repurpose something better than y’all. Looks brand new in each space. It all works in all spaces. Thanks for sharing how diverse pieces can be!
Margie Swivel Chairs - light master bedroom
Tapestry - dining room
Tree tops art - living room
Graham glider - nursery
Floor lamp - basement family room
Ocean rug - pink room
Cabinet - living room
Leather chairs - tie!
Ottoman - closet
Woven Ottomans - it's the same look/feel to me
Curtain - polly's room
Mirror - study
It’s all so beautiful! I love the repurposing and repositioning of furniture. It’s great to see that you are still using the same pieces instead of buying all new every time you move.
Those leather sling chairs were *made* for that blue bonus room. The contrast of the caramel color leather against that blue is so good.
I love this post. It’s very inspiring to see how pieces can be used in so many different spaces.
The arched cabinet and the huge mirror are both living their best lives right now, by far!! This was a fun post. I’m a chronic shuffler. It’s so fun to shop the house and find a fresh new spot for something old and beloved!
I thought you were going to show furniture being shared amounst you & your sisters ☺️ I love shopping my own home, too. I have several pieces from my Grandmother’s & Uncle’s homes which I use very differently than they did but come with so many memories.
This is such as fun post! It would have also been fun to litteraly vote between all the options and see what's most popular by the readers! :)
What are the dimensions on your tree top prints? Where did you get yours printed?
I love this post and seeing how your pieces work in different rooms and homes!
Wow so many beautiful spaces! I think the arched black cabinet was made for the new living room!!
All so lovely! The one that jumped out to me was the black arched cabinet. I definitely love it most in the kitchen especially with that large spray of greenery on the top shelf! It needs to be shown off and I feel like it’s tucked away in the other rooms. And the arched mirror was MADE for that gorgeous study!
