Casual Friday: Floor Sitting, Rugs and Rug Pads, New Exterior Inspo, CBD Face Oil and More!

Something about me is I love to sit on the floor. Even subconsciously I’ll sometimes choose the floor over a couch, chair or, well, bed. I think it started when I had our oldest daughter and I found myself sitting on the floor to play with her and be closer to her. And now, 9 years later–I’m still doing it. When Chris catches me (especially by myself with no kids in sight), he always makes a comment that gets me laughing.

This week we got this new Sarah Sherman Samuels X Lulu & Georgia rug in. It was originally going to be for Greta’s room but I couldn’t resist trying it in our room and eeeks, I love it. However it’s definitely one of those rugs that would look good anywhere. I love the softer color way with an oatmeal background and warm brown stripes. We got a 9×12 and I ordered this rug pad for underneath (that’s still en route). I think it will probably end up in one of the girls’ rooms–but new carpet is coming first. And if you’re curious my opinion on rugs over carpet–FOR IT! Especially in kid rooms.

Other fun things this week:

• These Birkenstock knock-off House Slippers are exacccctttly what I’ve been looking for.

• We’ve been pretty gung ho on a black exterior, but then I stumbled upon this dark gray one from Muskoka Living  and I’m so sure this is what I want (plus stone). Swoon

• The Disney Live Action Remake Machine takes it too far

• My go-to afternoon snack when I need a crunch? These Grain Free No Cheese Paleo Cheese Puffs. Even my sister who doesn’t have any dietary restrictions loved them.

• Most asked for source this week? This spotted sweater I wore. (I love the sides! wear a med)

• Almost a year ago, I got put on some thyroid medication that didn’t agree with me. And it took me and my medical team 6 months to get me off of it and switched over. The main issue was it made me break out like I have never experienced. Ever since, I have been working with an aesthetician to get my skin clear again and reverse any scarring. We’re almost there, but right before a big video shoot we were having, I could feel my cheek on the verge of a zit. A deep one. It’s the last thing I needed, so I went to her in a panic and said–I need this gone in 2 days! She gave me a small sample of professional grade CBD oil and, I’m not kidding!, it never showed up. It disappeared. I rubbed the oil all over my face morning and night for as long as the sample lasted and my face has NEVER been so clear. It was a professional product, so I don’t have a link to it, but I put a call out to our Instagram followers and these were the top 4 CBD Face Oils you all recommended:

Fitish Cool Down CBD-Infused Facial Mist

Herbivore Emerald Hemp Seed Deep Moisture Glow Oil

Kiehl’s Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil Herbal Concentrate (the one I just ordered! It’s specifically for problem skin and has so many great reviews!)

GlyMed Plus Professional CBD Booster

  1. Hey, this is a long shot. First, thanks so much for all of your sharing on your blog and on insta – so much inspiration and great links to be found in both spots! After recently reading your post about how to love your house – and basically stop being indecisive and just do it already – my hubby and I are going to decorate the house finally. We’re starting with our living room and need a rug. I love this off stripe rug, the colour, the line spacing is perfect. The price is a little steep, especially for a Canadian ha. Have you seen a dupe out there?

  2. Based off what the companies are calling their ingredients in the ingredient lists, the first 3 face oils you linked to are not CBD oil but hemp seed oil. The last (expensive) one uses the term “extract” in their ingredient list, so it looks MORE like it is actually CBD… BUT they don’t list the milligrams anywhere so you don’t really know what you are getting . And that’s a lot to spend to not know!

From the Healthline article that I read (and Becky already linked to):
“Hemp seed oil will be listed as cannabis sativa seed oil. CBD will be listed as cannabidiol, full-spectrum hemp, hemp oil, PCR (phytocannabinoid rich) or PCR hemp extracts.

While it’s not required to see the milligrams listed on the bottle, it has become a common practice to do so. If it’s not, you should wonder what’s in that bottle you’re paying for.”

It stinks that big companies like UO are misrepresenting their products with bogus marketing! :( At least the other two companies didn’t actually claim CBD – but they are benefiting financially from consumer confusion!

  3. Love the dark grey! It seems like it makes any black used for trim contrast even more. More dimension is always good!

I’ve also been searching for a cbd face cream/oil for acne and as other reviewers have said, it looks like that Keihls product doesn’t have cbd but rather just hemp seed, which is still a great moisturizer but doesn’t have the same active effects of cbd. Here’s an article with some of the differences and the ingredient name to look for. https://www.healthline.com/health/hemp-vs-cbd-oil#5

  4. There’s a big difference between hemp seed oil and the strain of cannabis sativa which contains CBD. So much marketing confuses the two. Just my two cents! ????
