I was going to title this post something like, "A little Graphic" or "Getting Graphic," but I didn't want you to not read it because you thought it was going to be risque. When in reality, I am dying to tell you about a little art project I did in no time for Greta's room.
Graphic art and typography are getting more and more popular every day. I tried my hand at a typography painting project awhile ago for our living room and I LOVE the way it turned out. So, when brainstorming for ideas to fill Greta's uninspiring walls, I knew that I wanted to have at least one graphic piece of art in there.
I decided to focus on the first letter of her name: G. "G" also happens to be what green starts with, and since that is a main color in her room, my project was pretty much laid out for me. I did the whole thing in Adobe Illustrator. It was fun choosing different fonts and sizes for all the g's and moving them around so they fit together. I also modified the color so there was a variety of different greens.

Once I had everything just the way I wanted it, I printed it out and framed it. The other day I was at the ReStore and I found a bunch of frames for $1! I brought them all home and spray painted them white, so they all match and are ready for finished projects. Now, one is a home to this graphic beauty.

Awesome. I did a lot of work similar to this in my Typography class in graphic design school. I love Typography, it is probably one of my favorite things as far as graphics goes. You did a great job. :-) Nice to have another artist in the blogosphere! http://www.justhadabrightidea.blogspot.com
NOT KIDDING AT ALL...can you make me one for Boo boo?? I LOVE that. It is AWESOME!
Ready for your most random commenter? I found your blog through a vegan blog I follow- I don't even remember her name-- but I recognized you-- I served in Pittsburgh a long time ago-- your dad was my bishop and I loved your family-- anyway...we're pregnant too, and probably naming the babe George-- another G name. I'm so tempted to do this for his nursery. Thanks for the idea. By the way, I totally love your blog. You're hilarious and creative and your family is beautiful!
