If you’re anything like me, you’re always on the hunt for a product that might save you some time (or at least a headache). Last year, I bought a gift wrap cutter that I used during the holiday rush, and it saved me so much hassle. I liked the one I used, but it made me wonder if there were better wrapping paper cutters out there, so I ordered a variety and put them to the test. Here’s how it went!

1. Wrapping Paper Roll Cutter with Handle $17
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
One thing we realized immediately with these gift wrap cutters is that they don’t work well with thicker wrapping paper rolls. This fit pretty snugly over the larger roll we used, but the blade worked great, and it got the job done. Comes in a pack of two!

2. Wrapping Paper Cutter Tube $8
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
I liked this one better than the black gift wrap cutter! It fits better over the roll and slices better. My favorite part about this is that you can store this roll cutter over your gift wrap rolls to keep them from unraveling. The downside is that you can’t really use this for cutting scrap pieces. Comes in a pack of two!

3. Stainless Steel Hidden Blade Vinyl Cutter $17
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
This cutter took a second to figure out how to use, but once we got it going, it was incredibly satisfying. It comes with extra blades, but I, for one, am not thrilled about the idea of swapping razor-sharp blades in and out.

4. Handy Cutter $2
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
This yellow gift wrap cutter wasn’t anything to write home about. It got the job done, but I could feel a bit of friction as I went. You get what you pay for!

5. Sliding Wrapping Paper Cutter $12
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Next up, we have these two green cutters that come with 10 extra blades. Again, nothing amazing, and I could feel some resistance getting started.

6. Titanium Bonded Razor Paper Cutter $8
⭐️
Would not recommend this again! This gift wrap cutter was not sharp, and it rippled the paper all the way through.

7. Helix Paper Cutter $6
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
I loved this one! The ergonomic shape fits so comfortably in my hand, and there was no cutting resistance — smooth like butter. The blade is completely hidden, and it has an edge that curls ribbons. I’ll certainly be using this wrapping paper tool a lot. The only downside is that it only comes in this bright blue color.

8. Wrap Ripper Backslitter Cutting Tool $12
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
This gift wrap cutter is very similar to the Helix design but didn’t work nearly as well. It does, however, come in a pack of 3 with extra blades.

9. Mini Cloud Box Cutter $5
⭐️ ⭐️
As cute as these little cloud blades are, we realized that you can only use them if you’ve got a cutting mat underneath, or else the blade will cut through. So they might not make great wrapping paper cutters, but they could be great on a keychain for those times you find yourself in need of a box opener.

Helix Paper Cutter
This was my favorite cutter by far! Super straightforward and simple to use, but most importantly, it worked every single time.

Wrapping Paper Cutting Tube
The cuff-shaped design falls in second place! It cuts beautifully, but my favorite part is that it stores over the gift wrap roll to keep it from unraveling.
